| Grimgrag01-26-07, 04:04 PM | i saw that it was allot more stuff and boks to fr in 2th ed but hope they will give out more boks soon or is it comming a new version of this game soon. like the old book of the acanists and the guildes and allot more |
| BrianCritchley01-27-07, 04:09 AM | itlooks like the only books due out for FR this year are adventures. boy it's going to be a lean year :( |
| Ryltar Swordsong01-27-07, 09:07 AM | Yeah, it seems WotC really doesn't want my money. |
| MerrikCale01-27-07, 09:22 AM | Yeah, it seems WotC really doesn't want my money. You're right. Might as well send it to me |
| MarkusTay6301-27-07, 10:58 AM | Ahem -Well, most of your posts are one or two sentences, most of which are usually condescending towards someone or other. You sometimes remind me of an EMT who has simply seen too much bloodshed and death, and reacts to everything with cool disinterest, with a hint of sarcasm. It's a good role to have, though. :D Point set match  |
| MerrikCale01-27-07, 11:42 AM | Ahem :D Point set match  I was waiting for that. Although I still don't see the conscending part. |
| bitter thorn01-27-07, 12:52 PM | OK this exchange went right over my head. |
| MarkusTay6301-27-07, 03:28 PM | Its one of those crazy cross-thread things. :D Has nothing to do with the topic however. I heard there was a soucebook coming out for the Drow, but am I to understand it will be core, not FR? Strange, considering it has the same name as the original FR one. |
| Tyshanis01-27-07, 03:39 PM | From what I understand, the new Adventures are also mini sourcebooks, Cormyr and Shadowdale. |
| bitter thorn01-27-07, 04:00 PM | LOL! Yes I finally stubled across the other post. I'm catching up now. Ironic titling of the forthcoming Drow book, but I guess they did the same thing with the Draconomicon. Its one of those crazy cross-thread things. :D Has nothing to do with the topic however. I heard there was a soucebook coming out for the Drow, but am I to understand it will be core, not FR? Strange, considering it has the same name as the original FR one. |
| bitter thorn01-27-07, 04:02 PM | If they have lots of lore I'll be happy, but who do we have to bribe to get some regional source books for FR? From what I understand, the new Adventures are also mini sourcebooks, Cormyr and Shadowdale. |
| MerrikCale01-27-07, 09:33 PM | I heard there was a soucebook coming out for the Drow, but am I to understand it will be core, not FR? Strange, considering it has the same name as the original FR one. Its definately core not FR. The question is how much of it can be used for FR. I would assume there will be obligatory PrCs, feats, etc. that will crossover. But what else? |
| Dark Wizard01-27-07, 10:26 PM | If they have lots of lore I'll be happy, but who do we have to bribe to get some regional source books for FR? The question is who do we have to geas. If the people make their saves or have protections, copious amounts of fantasy violence might be in order. (Rated TV-14) |
| Lord Karsus01-27-07, 11:52 PM | The question is who do we have to geas. If the people make their saves or have protections, copious amounts of fantasy violence might be in order. (Rated TV-14) -Should I start brewing Potions of Death? I've been itching to try them out...:) |
| MarkusTay6301-28-07, 12:01 AM | Its definately core not FR. The question is how much of it can be used for FR. I would assume there will be obligatory PrCs, feats, etc. that will crossover. But what else?Maybe they will make Corellon' and Araushnee's 3rd love child FR official? Then again, considering it's core probably not. Bad enough they don't give us enough FR lore, now they gotta come over here and steal our sourcebooks for those crummy generic gamers? :censored: I'm just kidding BTW, although I am upset that it won't be FR, I steal from EVERY setting, novel, and myth I can lay my hands on. :P |
| Lord Karsus01-28-07, 12:13 AM | I'm just kidding BTW, although I am upset that it won't be FR, I steal from EVERY setting, novel, and myth I can lay my hands on. :P -It's 'borrow', not 'steal'. ;) -I do the same thing. My setting is a mish-mosh of different ideas and concepts, from a multitude of sources. While it is heavily Realms-influenced, it has Tinker Gnomes (Dragonlance), a swamp that oftentimes contains the Mist of Ravenloft (Ravenloft), an Oriental, eastern Empire (Kara-Tur/Oriental Adventures), Planewalkers (Planescape), Spelljammers (Spelljammer), and a variety of other things. |
| MarkusTay6301-28-07, 12:16 AM | Everone NEEDS Tinker Gnomes. Margaret Weiss was the first person that actually made Gnomes interesting! And Kender are kinda cool, in a annoy-your-players kinda way. And Lord Soth, the only guy SO cool he was in two settings at the same time! :D Funny how we have to make our own books to satisfy our FR fix, eh Kars? ;) |
| bitter thorn01-28-07, 12:21 AM | The question is who do we have to geas. If the people make their saves or have protections, copious amounts of fantasy violence might be in order. (Rated TV-14) I'm with you! (metaphorically) I buy regional sourcebooks that I don't even use in play just to vote with my dollars and encourage thier release. Tell us how we have angered the regional sourcebook gods that we may appease them. Virgins? Burnt offerings? Anything? |
| bitter thorn01-28-07, 12:24 AM | This is your brain.:lightbulb This is your brain on tinker gnomes.:headexplo Remember, Just say NO!!! :teach: Everone NEEDS Tinker Gnomes. This is your brain.:lightbulb This is your brain on tinker gnomes.:headexplo Remember, Just say NO!!! :teach: -Eh, I like the little guys. In my setting, they came from Krynnspace a long time ago, did their tinkering, and affixed massive engines to a large island, such that it would be able to fly, and then simply left, as something new caught their fanacy. The engines have never been activated, and are ancient, but I am sure that if my PCs ever get stong enough, it would be a tantalizing plot hook. |
| Dark Wizard01-28-07, 01:16 AM | -Should I start brewing Potions of Death? I've been itching to try them out...:) Death is a bit harsh, not to mention counter productive; we still want them to work for us. I suggesting Elixirs of Extreme Agony, vats of it. We have to keep the pressure on through lost 2007 and well into 2008. -It's 'borrow', not 'steal'. ;) On lazy days I just make shadow conjurations of everything. -I do the same thing. My setting is a mish-mosh of different ideas and concepts, from a multitude of sources. I "borrowed" my setting from a washed up writer high on only Auppenser knows what while he mumbled words that would raise ancient beings from forgotten pits. |

Of course, now they make a fortune selling those tasty crackers called Krynn snacks (used to call it Soylent Green, but the name wasn't catchy enough). Had to do something with all those dead Elves... |
| Lord Karsus01-28-07, 10:44 AM | Was that before or after they affixed GIANT engines to Krynn and tried to fly IT out of their crystal sphere? :D -Don't know. I never asked the little guys. Part of me doesn't want to know, though... Death is a bit harsh, not to mention counter productive; we still want them to work for us. I suggesting Elixirs of Extreme Agony, vats of it. We have to keep the pressure on through lost 2007 and well into 2008. -Good point. I'll just add a littlw water to my Potions of Death, to dilute them, and turn them into Potions of Extreme Agony. Maybe I'll keep a few at their full concentration, just in case. You never know... |
| Azar_of_Faerun01-28-07, 12:20 PM | i saw that it was allot more stuff and boks to fr in 2th ed but hope they will give out more boks soon or is it comming a new version of this game soon. like the old book of the acanists and the guildes and allot more ENGLISH *********, do you type it?! |
| Lord Karsus01-28-07, 10:16 PM | ENGLISH *********, do you type it?! -Grimgrag seems to be a non-native English speaker. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, since he doesn't list where he comes from. If that's the case, give him a break. But, if he is a native English speaker, then I will have to second that. |
| MarkusTay6301-28-07, 10:49 PM | I would go with foreign born, it looks like more then just bad spelling and diction. He's not cojugating properly. ;) My hats off to anyone willing to post on a board in another language, that has to take guts. :tiphat: |
| Lord Karsus01-28-07, 10:52 PM | I would go with foreign born, it looks like more then just bad spelling and diction. He's not cojugating properly. ;) -Yep, the Noun-Verb-Adjective thing is also different than what we are normally used to. |

| _SIN_01-29-07, 08:41 PM | he types better english then I would any other language Seconded! :) As for Kender - the only remotely decent thing that occured was the death of Tass Burfoot. Then they spoilt it by bringing him back via the time travelling thingy. They should have have used it more wisely... and killed him again, and again and again.... As for this years deluge of Adventures?... GREAT!! :D So far, I think I'm the only person too busy to write my own adventures. On top of this I've been 'out of the loop' for the last 10 years (RPing in gen), so there's loads to catch up on and adjust to. As I said, Time is one comodity I lack so I can't feasably read all the core books, source books etc on top of the novels (Passage of/to Dawn?? was the last one I read, I think - or the crystal shard...), and from what I've read recently, A LOT has changed, so hopefully these new fangled adventures will both teach me more lore as well as buy me time to read, read, read!! So, I know I'll get flamed for this, But I am glad WoTC has decided to release a string of setting-specific adventures! (Although, I don't see why it should halt work on other products, as they are hardly comparable to source/core rule books in content?...) |
| Tyshanis01-29-07, 10:38 PM | he types better english then I would any other language He types better than i do in english:P |
| Lord Karsus01-29-07, 11:58 PM | (Although, I don't see why it should halt work on other products, as they are hardly comparable to source/core rule books in content?...) -That's pretty much why the whole lot of us are angry about it. If there were three sourcebooks, and three adventures, cool, even better. But, the fact that the adventures are taking up slots that could have been used for sourcebooks is the part that irks us. |
| bitter thorn01-30-07, 10:38 AM | I second your frustration with real life time challenges. I have nothing against adventures per se, and I concur with your sentiment of "why not both?". I honestly believe that MoM and a Moonsea sourcebook could have both been succesful. I might not have bought MoM, but I buy every Regional sourcebook for FR. Obviously corporates marketing guys see it differently though. Seconded! :) As for Kender - the only remotely decent thing that occured was the death of Tass Burfoot. | MerrikCale01-31-07, 09:23 PM | He types better than i do in english:P Me wuzn't gona say nuthin', butt since youz did And LK is right. They're trying to be part adventure part sourcebook. and they accomplish neither. |
| AlorinDawn01-31-07, 11:08 PM | Yeah seems a lean year for Realms products. the sad part is there are so many products that could be done.......... Alas as it was said earlier in the thread, WotC seems not to want my $$ either, as I would spend it on quality Realms products. Lean Realms year indeed. |
| MarkusTay6301-31-07, 11:42 PM | he types better english then I would any other languageHope you don't think I was making fun, I was serious (for once). I tried to ask a question on a French board once... I think they're still laughing. :( I might not have bought MoM, but I buy every Regional sourcebook for FR.Awww... how could you NOT love a product called mom? I have to laugh at myself, I had to scroll back to figure out who brought up kender in this thread... and it was me! Uh-DOH! |
