(1) Does Bahamut exist in 3rd? I haven't seen him around for awhile.

(2) Is Tiamat a true dragon? She is written as a Lesser Deity, and I'm almost sure that she is the only other deity besides AO that created their own followers/offspring a.k.a. dragonkind (not human worshippers) in her own image.

TIAMAT
Colossal Dragon

She's listed as a dragon, not an outsider so I'd say yes.

1.

Deities and Demigods is not canon in the Forgotten Realms as far as everyone is concerned. It might do everyone well just to print Players Guides and Dungeon Guides seperatly and just say the two worlds are completely different.

The Wheel does not exist in FR
Tiamat the "Unique Dragon" does not exist in FR
Neither do high elves, grey elves, etc
Ditto for Orcus possibly as it implies Kiranshlee is actively wiping out his cult's remains (until proven otherwise-Orcus is dead in the Realms despite Monte's excellent game supplement)

2.

Bahamut has not been mentioned anytime recently but he hasn't been contradicted either. Tiamat is a confirmed lesser deity in FR but this is her Untherite write up.

Nothing has been written on the Dragon pantheon for 3rd edition but nothing HASN'T been written on them either

Its reasonable to assume thus that the Dragon pantheon of the Cult of the Dragon is still valid yet Tiamat is now the Untherite pantheon in its total as well as in the Faerun pantheon

But as an interloper

3.

Ao didn't create any race in his own image to our knowledge. He created Shar and Selune

At present it doesn't say anything about Tiamat creating the dragons as all information is 2nd edition where she did it with Bahy

And the fact he was listed in F&P.

There is no single official stance of Orcus' existence. Some say he is alive, other that he is dead, others he is undead.

Personally looking at all the info I' say he died and came back to life, via undeath. But, like your quote, that is my own formulation.

There is, like you said yourself: Faiths&Pantheons

Currently he's a lesser god in the FR

As long as WotC don't release an errata to change his entry, that's the only official fact about Orucs in the FR in 3e

Oh. I thought they HAD released an an errata that excluded him. That was where the confusion had started. It was mainly between people who followed F&P, and people who followed the errata - with numerous other sourcebooks, snippets of info being used in the arguement (BoVD for example).
Suppose I was wrong. Good! Orcus lives!

Thanks Mirtek.

Very interesting that I would see this thread today. Last night I was paging through Faiths and Pantheons (as I tend to browse through my sourcebooks sometimes in bed just to keep my knowledge sharp :D ) and, owning Dieties & Demigods as I do, I was aware that Bahamut was not a canon Realms diety and Tiamat was. I think I heard somewhere that in the Realms version, Tiamat had killed Bahamut. Not sure though.

I was tossing around a few ideas in my head last night and thought that I'd probably want Bahamut to be alive in my campaign, and for Tiamat to be her usual self but in an "iffy" relationship with Bahamut...her being uniquely evil and Bahamut, IMO, being more noble and such.

As for Orcus, Sean K. Reynolds wrote a web suppliment to "Elminster In Hell" going over the layers of Baator in the Realms. In it he named Orcus being alive and kicking, IIRC. You can find the link easily on his site, and I think there's a link to it in the FR novels section of the official site, where all those other web-novel-suppliment links are.

Hlal, Null and Task are listed in F&P as Dragon Deities.

I was aware that Bahamut was not a canon Realms diety and Tiamat was. This is incorrect. The 2nd-Edition sourcebook Cult of the Dragon clearly lists Bahamut as a Realms diety.

The only 3rd Ed spot I remember Bahamut being named was in DoF in the Deity section at the back of the book.
