I'm thinking about running this adventure for my current party and I'm curious as to how far it will take us. Usually adventures give you a level range, this one however just says for 10th level characters.

I know it depends on death/encounters but give me a ballpark figure if you can. Thanks.

Is it a 4 group party?

encounter levels should be about the same as the group is, so a 10 level party should meet 4, 10 level encounters before they need to rest. (since 1 encounter uses up about 25% of there usable resources)

The boss of the adventure often lies about 4 level above the party, this is a hard encounter. And should be modified for each adventure by the DM, since a party often has special qualities that make either the boss to hard, or to easy. (A party that has a mage and cleric that's really good at evocation spells, and the boss has a really good reflex save and greater evasion, perhaps he has DR, and none of the fighters have the right material.. something should be fixed)

So: A dungon adventure set for 10 level, would require a rest for a 8 level party about every other encounter, perhaps every third. But the XP would give them more a boost towards the end. A 12 level party could perhaps make 6 or 8 encounters without rest. But here again, less xp toward the end.

The boss would also be the same. For a 8 level party, the boss would be really hard, but since he is only CR 6 above the party, It can be done. A 12 level party would on the other hand take him down without major problems, perhaps some minor wounds and such, unless they are more specialized then a normal party. However, it also depends on how long the adventure is, since a 8 level party can gain a level or two, where a 10 level party would only gain 1 level. And that makes the endboss somewhat more easy. Likewise against this with the 12 level party, gain less xp, last boss somewhat harder.

Thanks for the response. Not really what I was looking for though. I don't yet have the adventure. I'm debating on buying it. I was wondering if anybody has run it and if so, about what levels does it span. My party would be 10th level (average) when we begin.

So, if anybody has played the published adventure "Into the Dragon's Lair", if you can give me a ballpark figure as to what level everyone ended up that would be great.

The main reason I ask is because I ran "City of the Spider Queen" and that was levels 10-18 and I felt kind of burnt out by the end. I'm wondering how long this adventure is as compared to "City of the Spider Queen".

Thanks in advance.

It's much shorter than CotSW so shouldn't have the same burnout factor. It's not a bad adventure although I have only read it rather than played it.

Itīs not so long. I recall advancing 2 or 3 levels. I hope this helps.
