So just recently finished Waterdeep City of Splendors and realized that having a beholder eye would be freakin awesome. DM has already approved and now i just need to find the stats for it. could someone possibly tell of a book that contains a beholder monster graft or just give me the rules if you know them off the top of ur head? Dm doesnt really like to house rule otherwise i woulda worked it out with him, thanks!

one would have thought City of Splenders would have given you sufficant reason to avoid the beholder eye graft given the obvious ways a GM could add complications to it.

well see im actually the only evil member in a good party that my DM is running. just that they dont know im evil yet thx to the fact that none of them are magic users and cant detect my alignment. also for some reason they never try sense motive on me. anyways he likes the idea and he is probably gonna twist it on me but o well its all in the role playing.

right I'm just making sure you've thought over the possiable concequences of getting a graft like this. especially if your DM has read city of splenders too :)

ok here's the "catches" thats gonna need considering

1: Raw Material, obviously you'll need a beholders eye to graft in place, getting a beholder's eye ain't exactly easy ;)

2: the reaction of beholders: you'll be just about ensureing that beholders will be hostile to you. no biggy mind ya as you're proably not ever on good terms with em any way

3: the reactions of society, obviously grafts aren't terriably popular in common society, you'll need to covered up of course.
4: the people doing the grafting: now obviously these people aren't going to be good, chances are they'll be evil, and evil people don't do anything outta altruism, there will no doubt be a price, and the price may not immediatly be apparent.
5: your fellow adventurers may begin to become somewhat suspicious of you if you got and get a graft. you can't cover it up from THEM forever. unless you never intend to USE the graft

o yea i thought about that. not exactly sure how to keep it under wraps forever but i figured id only use it in extreme surcumstances with hopefully no one around to see it. o and do u know if the beholder eye gives darkvision???

nope, just gives one power, in truth I think you're gonna be dissappointed when you finally see the stats.

I have never been able to find a copy of City of Splenders, but you can find stats/costs for beholder grafts in the Fiend Folio. If you want to be able to create and graft them yourself, you will need the Graft Flesh feat (Beholder). There are several grafts you can get. Replacement eyes and eye stalks that can mimic beholder rays, a third eye that can cast dispell magic, eyes in the back of your head, and chitin armor plating (+natural armor).

Fortunatly, graft flesh: Beholder, is learn able by humans, but unless you create them yourself, you may have a hard time obtaining one. Beholder cults, priests of Bane, and maybe some deranged and powerful wizards are the only ones who may make them.

There are new rules in Eberron and Races of the Dragon that put limits on the number of grafts and types you can get. In a nut shell it comes down to only allowing 5 grafts, and only one type (aka beholder). I see no reason for those rules, as they count as character wealth and are mostly self limiting anyways.

There is also the Occular Adept PrC (faiths nd Patheons) that gives you a central eye that mimics all the beholder abilities.

Hope this helps!
