Hmm, I need some information on this one.

I'm doing a campaign and my party will, by accident, travel back in time. The party will travel back to the time when Bane, Myrkul and Bhaal still were humans and the party will meet these guys. Now I checked all my books (all books from 3rd edition and further) and there is not so much information about them. There is some info on Bane ofc but it's still not much. I wonder can any of you help me with info on these 3 gods? I especially need to know during which time period these guys were wandering the world as mortals and what happend in faerun during this period. Any extra information on Myrkul and Bhaal especially would be awesome. Maybe their classes even!

There's not much. We know Bane came from a different crystal sphere or Prime Material if you use the new cosmology.

They were mortals during the time of Netheril because they didn't rise to deityhood until after Netheril fell because Jergal was still strong then.

The pages around 169 of Faiths & Pantheons also mentions those three before they slew Borem.

Other then that, well that's it. :)

:) If you can find it. Actually I need to reread that novel, it's been years since I've done so.

But that's crossing the line of novel talk so I whistle innocently and drop this.

Ok, here is what I remember from my 2nd edition stories

Bane, Myrkul and Bhaal were evil adventurers. Bane was the fighter, Bhaal was the assassign, and Myrkul was the wizard. They practically destroyed two other worlds before getting to Faerun (I think). They're final objective was to kill Jergal, the cheif god of evil, and steal his power. They collected dozens of artifacts and powers along the way until they were an unbelievable level. Then they went down into Hell to face Jergal.

What they didn't know was that Jergal was tired of the whole thing. He had won so completly that no one could ever possibly threaten him. So, when they showed up and said "We want your power" he said "Its yours".

So what does a group of evil people do when faced with the ultimate prize, they immediatly try to kill each other. So then Jergal stops them and agrees to divide his power amongst them.

They had a game of chance to see who picked from his 3 portfolios (thats right - 3) first, and Bane won, who chose Tyranny. I can't remember who went next but the long and short of it was that Bhaal got Murder and Myrkul got death. Jergal promised that he would forever serve the god of death (and thats why he serves Kelemvor now). Jergal was so powerful that each of his 3 portfolios was strong enough to make each of them a greater power.

And there it is, enjoy :)
