Blind Monk PLZ HELP WITH [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-15-04, 05:53 PM I want to make a blind monk. Kind of like the whole Dare Devil Idea. Im open to all ideas. I kinda want it to do with his Master (Monk3/sorcerer7/dragon discpline3)

04-15-04, 06:07 PM How about a Grimlock monk? They have a -2 to wis, but +2 dex and +4 str.

They are blind, but have the blingsight ability, so they see via sound and smell and tremmors in the ground. Kinda like daredevil.. But they have Level Adjustment of +2 and they also have 2 HD, so your DM might not like it.

04-15-04, 07:55 PM Just give the character the Blindsight ability, make up a reason why they have it and give him a +1 Level Adjustment. Or you could start off with the Blindfighting feat, then later when they advance far enough the can buy or find a magic item that bestows Blindsight. If the character has Blindsight and ends up being dead center of a silence spell their screwed, so eventually they may want the Blindfighting feat anyway.

04-15-04, 09:21 PM Sorry didn't realize you were a newbie. Blindsight is a Special Quality with +1 Level Adjustment, meaning that any 1st level race from the PHB would effectively be a CR2 and would have to get 3000 experience points to get to 2nd level, instead of the usual 1000. As Cunning Linguist mentioned their are races that have the same ability but they have various Level Adjustments also. Of course you should check with your DM 1st, Blindsight is actually a powerful quality, rendering a character effectively immune gaze attacks. If your DM decides against it, you character can take the Blindfighting feat, it's definitely not as good Blindsight but any character can get by on it. Anyway when your character gets of sufficient level to have the funds for they can purchase, have made, or just so happen to come across a magic item with the Blindsight enchantment. The spell is in both the FRCS and SS, but in SS it has Improved Blindsight 60 ft. You could also have it permanently cast on your character, but I wouldn't unless it is either made by a Wish spell or some uber epic caster or deitity cause one Dispel Magic will ruin your day. Now you have me rambling, just some ideas.

The new psionics has a 3rd level power called Touchsight as well as a first level power called Synesthete

Synesthete allows you to feel light and feel sound or hear light if you are blinded.

Touchsight generates a subtle telekinetic field out to 60 feet that allows you to "feel" your surroundings.
