Does anyone know of the timeline for Blingdenstone's fall to the Drow? How much time past between the Deep Gnome's intervention in the Mithral Hall campaign and the Drow reprisal?

Less than a year, might have been a few months after actually, they needed to regain Lloth's favor and take the devastating defeat off their minds and what better way to do it then pound some gnomes into lil pasties.

It was about time that they got rid of that city, too. Since there is such an overabundance of Gnomes and things related to Gnomes in the Forgotten Realms Material it really made sense to let Blingdenstone be destroyed and give the drow some more time in the spotlight.

There may be a little irony and sarcasm in this post.

Those poor gnomes, who will befriend the badgers now?

Notice how the little folk (gnomes and halflings) have like one major nation a piece. Now even the friendliest (relatively speaking) city, and of gnomes nonetheless, in the Underdark has been wiped out...

Gnomes and halflings just aren't big nation-builders. They have many small realms, settlements, and city enclaves scattered across Faerūn. "The Adventures of Volo: Hin Nobody Knows" in Dragon #269 lists many of them.
