Andragonor 12-23-03, 03:40 PM	i am currently in a game with a character that carries an active moonblade. However I need to find a way to break it so i can continue with the game does anyone have any ideas on how I might acomplish this feat i cant find anything that might even suggest how this could come about or what would happen if breaking it occurs any ideas
Gotrex 12-23-03, 03:52 PM	i dont know if moonvlades are like a normal item when it comes to breaking or not so i aint gonna comment on that but do you really need to break it? if you cant you could have the character loose it in some horrible place like it getting thrown into the plane of shadows
Wooly Rupert 12-23-03, 03:52 PM	Are you the player or the DM? If you're the player, the DM needs to help you come up with a method, thinks I. Since moonblades are unique, and each one gets powers from its wielders, I'd say that it would depend on the blade's history. I'd have to know that before I could have any thoughts of possible means of destruction...
Kuje31 12-23-03, 03:57 PM	Also since they are artifacts it will take a lot to break or destroy them. Going by some of the old info for artifacts some needed to be dropped into a active volcano or other ways that are really hard to accomplish......
Andragonor 12-23-03, 04:01 PM	ok first as to sending it into the plain of shadows: a moonblades wilder is conected to a moonblade so they can never be seperated from the blade or they die. and i am the player we are currently inthe middle of a cataclymic war that needs to end NOW the problem is it has to happen before anything can stop the distruction of the enemies entire army (eg the breaking of an artifact even a minor one) my charater is the Queen of a small Island kingdom outside of a very large very evil land who has decided to take over all the realms the only thing standing between it and toril is my little kingdom. so I thought breaking my artifact even if it does kill me might work with at least killing the ring leaders of the enemy
Mellomir 12-24-03, 03:32 AM	It sounds like the campaign you're in is far enough outside 'normal' gaming boundaries (breaking any artifact, even a minor one, to destroy an entire army?) that anything suggested here regarding the breaking of a moonblade might not be applicable. Basically, discuss it with your DM.
Northen_Spur 12-24-03, 07:18 AM	The Only time I saw this was, in BgII in the battle for Sulundestar, and elf is fighting a demon and the elf uses his moonblade to sarifice himself in killing the demon.
ElaineCunningham 12-24-03, 07:33 AM	Kill the wielder. Kill everyone in his or her line of descent. When the family line has died out, the moonblade's purpose will be fulfilled and the sword's magic will fade. It will then be as any other well-made elven weapon, and you can break it in any manner you see fit.

Andragonor 12-24-03, 04:30 PM	well since i am the weilder i do not want to kill my self just to break the moon blade i wa hoping to take out the big bad guys along with me when i break the blade. so that wouldnt work and breaking a staff of power is alot easier then breaking a blade so i guess that just wont work thanx for the input though
aelryinth 12-24-03, 11:53 PM	I suggest that it would be MUCH easier to move whatever entry to Toril is on the other side of you from this empire to BETWEEN you and the Empire...and then notify the powers that be of Toril that there's going to be some trouble here, if they would like to destroy/redirect the portal it might be a Good Thing. Then, after the Empire sends it's crack troops into an active volcano with one of them nifty portal warping spells, you've given yourself some time to level up and find a better way to deal with the overwhelming problem opposite you. ==Aelryinth
