slithering shadow 11-08-05, 01:51 AM	I checked out the new products line for WOTC today and was very disappointed, nay, downright dismayed to find that the new hardcover release of Salvatore's THE LEGACY will have a crappy cover painted by someone who is not Todd Lockwood. After adorning the first six hardcover re-releases with pretty cool Lockwood artwork (OK, STREAMS OF SILVER was only mediocre, but the rest were impressive), why, oh why, have they done this?!? Here's hoping that the powers that be come to their senses and find a better cover painting than the one currently on their website. It's doesn't do Drizzt and co justice. Rest assured, my rant is done. SGB
Brenigin 11-08-05, 03:04 AM	I may be mistaken, but that looks like a close-up of the painting fromm the cover of the Accursed Tower module. I would say it is just a placeholder until the final art is finished - I seem to recall that when the Icewind Dale Trilogy new hardbacks first went up on the site, they just had black and white pencil versions of todd Lockwood's final art.

Darth_Azalin 11-14-05, 06:53 AM	Why are they re-releasing Legacy? It was in both hard and soft cover already along with a all in one edition.
slithering shadow 11-14-05, 04:27 PM	I think that the intention is to have the entire run of Drizzt novels out in hard cover books that match the handsome format of the recent HUNTERS BLADE trilogy. There is no doubt a commercial motive here as well. Whatever the intention, they are much more appealing to the eye than earlier releases (especially the Lockwood covers), though I've noticed that they retain many of the typos. A shame, as those would have been easy to remove . . . For someone like me, who did not read the originals when they first appeared, the rereleases are an excellent opportunity to read the entire series in chronological order over the course of several years. I'm certainly enjoying them. SGB
Darth_Azalin 11-15-05, 11:27 AM	I would rather have a "Great" series reprinted like Harpers (I know 16 books is a bit much) and not have 1/4 of it put under 2 different series. And with the Drizzt series.. I would have to say I loved Homeland and Servant of the Shard (mainly for Artemis) other than that I didn't like them as much as other books.

Rny2 11-21-05, 09:40 AM	Just so you know, someone over on the magic boards found some leaked art for Guildpact on Todd's site. Needless to say, Wizards isn't too happy about this, so maybe this is how they're taking it out on Todd.
