I'm starting a new game, and I had each of my players (I'm the DM) create his character seperately and send them to me. Amazingly, they turned out with one Doomguide of Kelemvor. One Fighter/Cleric of Kelemvor. And one Paladin of-you guessed it!-Kelemvor.

So, instead of tellling them to think of something else, I've decided (with them) to make them an undead hunting team. Now, I'm looking for a region to run the campaign in (prefferably one with a morbidly obese amount of undead in it) and I'm stumped.

Got any suggestions?

There are some Undead ruins in Calimshan, and the nearby mythal-cloaked city of undead (whose name eludes me at the moment); it's also controlled, secretly, by the Twisted Rune, one of the most powerful Epic-level Undead organizations in all of Faerun.

There's also the Battle of Bones and Skullgorge that's not TOO far away (relatively speaking).

Uh...okay, I suppose if you REALLY want a "morbidly obese"(?) amount of undead, you should check out The Boneyard in Underdark, it's under the Great Dale. It's got around 5,000 undead inhabitants. In other words, if they visit the place they probably wouldn't make it out.

And then there is always Warlock's Crypt. Oh wait, no, the party would be MUCH safer in The Boneyard.

In looking over LEoF, in the Coramshan/Calimshan part, I noticed... Three Necropoli, too, one of which is tended to by a cleric of Kelemvor! Can we say home base?

In my opinion, if you have LEoF, look at it.. The area of the old Shoonach Imperium is the perfect spot for an Undead-based campaign.

Also, just off the coast of Calimshan - according to the 2E Necromancer's Handbook - there's also the isle of Sahu, which was once the Isle of the Necromancer-Kings...

Calimshan (and the previous empires that ruled the sands) is really perfect.

How about rooting out the vampires of Westgate?

Aha! Calimshan it is. I'll just borrow LEoF from a friend of mine.

I originally thought Thay maybe, because of the Wizards.

It would be much harder to base a game in Thay, I think, and it would be more about all kinds of magic than necromancy/undead. :)

Que? What's this I hear, Sahu formerly known as the Isle of the Necromancer-Kings? I must learn more.

Yup. It was in the Necromancer's Handbook, which, while a 'general' supplement - it was said that Sahu "officially" existed off the coast of Calimshan. :)

Might I ask what LEoF is?

Jastra LEoF stands for Lost Empires of Faerun.
