We are in the beginning stages of building a FR persistent world (similar to a MMORPG) using Bioware's Aurora Toolset (from Neverwinter Nights). I have been looking over the posts here and I find most of you to be absolutely brilliant!

If anyone has some extra time on their hands, it would be cool if some of you would consider helping us out. No programming or scripting experience needed. We are looking for people with ideas. and also people who have a lot of knowledge of FR.

Check us out here:

A Land Far Away (http://nwvault.ign.com/community/gameworlds/data/1038854065170.shtml)

ALFA is far different than the 'stock' game, with fundamental changes that allow the game to behave far more like D&D, and less like a video game. This, along with 490+ roleplayers and 80+ talented DMs, makes ALFA the largest community-based 3D persistent world project geared toward role-play.

Thirteen regions are presently live and full accessible (on interconnected servers). These are Baldur's Gate (includes Candlekeep), Northern Cormyr, the city of Arabel, Daggerdale, the Frozen North (including Icewind Dale), Loudwater, Selgaunt, Shadowdale, Skullport & Undermountain, Silver Marches (includes Silverymoon), Triboar (The Long Road), The Pirate Isles and a true-to-scale Waterdeep!

1: ALFA is ridiculously restrictive in who they allow to play on their servers.

2: I have remade Zhentil Keep (after destruction) with the toolset in minute detail (lighting, sounds, NPCs, all from the boxed set). There are a few things that still need work (scripts and conversations), but as far as visual and audio it's pretty much all there. I worked many many months on this and will eventually add to the server i used to host (Erlkazar). Anyways, if you're interested in seeing what I have done let me know. I haven't made much use of my ZK, but would like to and share it with others. :)

Indeed, and I myself never liked playing there. (was a much bigger fan of City of Arabel)
But it does show how hard it is to make a FR persistent world. It takes forever if you want it to be of any kind of size.
City of Arabel was just one city, did not take as much time as ALFA did to make, but it took along time, and it was quite small.
If anyone started up a new ALFA type of servernetwork, they would not be done untill NWN2 comes out in 2006.

geez...

I'm sorry for the confusion. I wasn't looking to start a 'battle' to see who's PW is better. We are undertaking an ambitious project and I was hoping there might be some people here who love the Forgotten Realms Campaign setting as much as we do and wouldn't mind participating in discussions on our forums. We need help with storylines, history, and continuity. There are positions open on our development team, but That's not why I posted here. we are hoping that some people might consider taking time out of their busy lives to offer some ideas and spark creativity.

Xaos, how about when you have questions about history and stuff, you just directly ask them on the boards here? :) That way you could be sure that, in the end, you have all of the possible information (not just information from one person, since even if a person is very knowledgeable, things could still be forgotten or recalled incorrectly).
