| Ahaz Ghedregost06-30-04, 08:45 AM | Well I didn't read the novel, yet I read Calimport and Empires of the Shining Sea. In my opinion, any guild for hin in Camilshan and Calimport would have to be a thieves' guild. and as such it would have to be at least a semi-secret organisation. Normal guilds in Calimshan, if I understood the books correctly, are restricted to Calishites (including races of Calishite descend, e.g. Halfelve, Halforcs, Genasi etc.). Most of the halflings in Calimshan are slaves in the fields outside the cities, so a 'free' hin would be seen as a runaway, I think. To become a true Calishite citizen seems impossible for a hin from my point of view. Still, as I said, thieves' guilds and other underground organisations seem a fair option to me. What I mean to say is this: make one up as it suits you. |
