| Tarau01-20-07, 11:17 AM | Hello all, I recently purchased the Al-Qadim campaign setting and I really enjoy it. Now, I'm gonna start a campaign soon, but I don't quite know how to introduce my players to the world and feel of Zakhara. I was thinking of running either the adventure "The Rose of Jumlat", which can be found in Dungeon #57 or on the Al-Qadim.com website, or "Caravans" (with some changes), found on Wizards' website. I would like to know if anyone ever ran on of theses adventures, and if so, how they liked it. Thanks! |

Now, I'm gonna start a campaign soon, but I don't quite know how to introduce my players to the world and feel of Zakhara. An afternoon of the three Ray Harryhausen "Sinbad" movies while drafting the characters with my folks the day before I started the campaign worked for me. Al-Qadim is a wonderful setting & you should get plenty of mileage out of it. I'm sad that it hasn't gotten the full 3.5 treatment, but conversion shouldn't be difficult (only time consuming). |

Unfortunately my time spent in Al-Quadim was memorable for ALL the wrong reasons. It was Dm'd by a woman (and I'm not stereo-typing), and to be honest, she was lame at it (but had nice jugs, so was worth attending sessions either way!). I think it has plenty of potential to be a really fun gaming location, but when I played, the DM was FAAAAR too emotional and any dysfunctional player character usually found himself very dead, very quickly - in one of those ambushes where 20 guys jump out with bows... and target only 1 member of the group, i.e. the dysfuctional player!!??? I'd love a 3.5 revision to come - and hopefully will. And if we're really lucky, they'll put some effort into it - unlike oriental adventures!! |
