| Urko04-01-05, 12:00 PM | WIZARDS OF THE COAST ANNOUNCES CAMPAIGN SETTING MERGER Historic “Meeting of the Worlds” Gives Every Fan What They Want at the Same Time! April 1, 2005 (Renton, WA) - Publisher Wizards of the Coast, Inc., a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE:HAS), will release Dungeons & Dragons Megaverse® in early 2006. This new campaign setting will formally merge all previously published Dungeons & Dragons® campaign settings into one “super-duper big world of adventure,” in the words of Director of RPG R&D Bill Slavicsek. “For years fans of discontinued settings like Dark Sun® and Planescape® have been campaigning for official support for their favorite worlds, while fans of currently supported settings have been impatient for new products. With this new development, every book we publish will support every setting, because they'll all be the same one! Everybody wins!” Keith Baker, creator of Eberron®, Dungeons & Dragons'® newest setting was enthusiastic in his support of the merger. “I used to spend ten hours a day on the message boards explaining what's different about my setting. I must have answered 'no' to questions like 'Can my Ebberon character be a Red Wizard who worships Vecna?' a hundred times. Well, from now on, the answer is 'Yes!' I'm going to take a nap.” Ed Greenwood, creator of the popular Forgotten Realms®, setting, was more cryptic. “In a year, Elminster and his Scarlet Brotherhood-Harper coalition will be running the place.” Another exciting development in this new “uber-setting” is that players will no longer be limited to characters of their own creation. Every character ever mentioned in any novel or worldbook will be fully statted out and playable. “And that includes all the gods!” said Slavicsek. “Ever wanted to play a campaign where Drizzt, Bigby, Onatar, Pelor, and Mystara all climb aboard a Spelljamming ship for cross-planar adventures to bring life to a wasteland populated by psionic horrors and fog-shrouded vampire's castles? Well, now in Dungeons & Dragons Megaverse® you can! Talk about endless possibilities!” Wizards of the Coast, Inc., a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE:HAS), is a worldwide leader in the trading card game and tabletop roleplaying game categories, and a leading developer and publisher of game-based entertainment products. The company holds an exclusive patent on the method of playing trading card games (TCGs) and produces one of the world's best-selling TCGs, Magic: The Gathering®, as well as the celebrated Dungeons & Dragons® roleplaying game. Publisher of adventure games, family card and board games, and electronic media products, Wizards of the Coast is also one of the world's premier book publishers of fantasy series fiction whose novels have made numerous appearances on The New York Times best-seller list and have sold millions of copies worldwide. | Mookie3704-01-05, 02:20 PM | This is almost as bad/amusing as my college paper's column about Shaq signing on to direct "Kazam 7". |
| Weiser_Cain04-01-05, 03:23 PM | I hate this waste of time stuff... |
| Faraer04-01-05, 03:29 PM | I pity the fool who's as cynical as some of you. What difference does it make what day it is? We all know the Realms and Greyhawk were already on the same planet, and this is long-overdue news. (What setting is Mystara a character from, though?) |
| Kid SixXx04-01-05, 03:51 PM | (What setting is Mystara a character from, though?) That is a slip in the prank, good sir, as Mystara is not a character: it's another setting. The "Red Steel" material is set in Mystara. |
| ShadowJack04-01-05, 05:17 PM | NICE TRY AT AN APRIL FOOLS JOKE! FOR ONCE I DID NOT BY THE LINE! (like the time i stood on the roof of our office building waiting for a flyover by the stealth bomber... never happened) |

(What setting is Mystara a character from, though?) :surrender A kitten dies every time you reveal the truth behind a secret!!! |
| Shemeska the Marauder04-02-05, 04:53 AM | I thought it was already done well enough in a little old setting called Planescape. :D *grin* Heck almost all of the 2e settings were set within the same multiverse. Planescape just happened to encompass them all by way of the planes. Nothing stopping us from still using that paradigm rather than the 3e cosmology that got foisted upon us. :) |
| Faraer04-02-05, 10:46 AM | I love kittens, and am honestly curious about this Mystara. |
| dragonheart04-03-05, 09:03 PM | April 1, 2005 (Renton, WA) that was all I had to read to realize it was an april fools joke on all of us - but a pretty good one none the less. As for mystara isn't that the campain world where teh crazy head of a magical family wqas actually the main god ? there were a number of early modules that you could drop into any campaign that took you there for a an adventure or so and then dropped you back on your howm world all thru a mystic thick fog. several of my characters played in those old adventures anbd got so cool special powers adn abilities thanks to the world. |

| Kid SixXx04-04-05, 09:40 AM | I love kittens, and am honestly curious about this Mystara. Check the free or paid downloads section of the WoTC website. If the Mystara material isn't free, I can't imagine that it costs all that much, provided that it's still available. http://www.rpgunited.com/product/mystara/tsr9500.html |
