| Kezghan11-18-03, 07:38 PM | Its all in the Pools of *something* trilliogy, the last book has to do with him primarily i think, he is the son of the main characters from the previous 2 books, the hammer was originally his fathers, I cant recall all the details those books were ages ago. I think he is also in the Double Diamond Saga thing,, but that is a pretty wack set of lil books. heh |

Kern is the child of Shal Bal and Tarl Desanea. Kern's story can be found in Pool of Twilight by James M. Ward and Anne K. Brown, or Heroes Lorebook. Kern retrieves the hammer from Bane. According to 2e, Kern is 100% impervious to magic, but he could lower it to 50% if he needed healing. He's a level 6 paladin of Tyr. Miltiades, who was a 11th level undead skeletal paladin of Tyr also helps, but is restored to life by Tyr for his help in finding the hammer. Daile Redfletching, the daughter of Ren O' The Blade who was friends with Shal Bal and Tarl, also helps Kern on his quest. She's a 3rd level ranger. That's all that's really written for them, at least looking through Heroes Lorebook. The hammer can blaze forth with the light of day, instantly destroying undead of 5 HD or less into powder and turning all other forms of undead within 100 feet. Magic cast at it or its wielder is absorbed into the artifact with no effect. It can be used to cast a heal spell on as many as two persons per day, and it can be used as a +5 weapon. Once a day, it can emit a power sunray spell that destroys all undead or magically created creatures within a 300 foot radius. The hammer's wielder (which Tyr himself chooses) can throw the hammer and then recall it to his hand. Finally, it can be thrown into a pool of darkness and thereby permanently destroying the pool. This latter power causes the hammer to become dorment for 24 hours and enables any evil power to hide the hammer without harm. If the hammer is active, however, no evil creature can stand to touch it, as it causes 2d4+3 points of permanent damage per round. |
