Which group in the FR is most likely to try to raid Candlekeep and why would they do it?

Thay.. for the magic

Any evil creature that believes the Complete Prophecies of Alaundo holds a prediction involving some plot of his or her own.

Didn't the Church of Cyric tried in one novel, because of Cyric's enmity towards Oghma? and didn't they just end up killing themselves in front of Candlekeep's gates over a disagreement?

Where did I read that a copy of each book with a candlekeep seal on it is kept in a super secret location?

The FRCS mentions that Candlekeep has a mirror library.

How protected is the Keep Itself? such as protections versus Seige Weapons, elementals, and direct assault? The FRCS does not give much detail.

There are numerous mages, monks, and clerics who would jump to defend the keep. They also have their own garrison of troops.

Also, check this out...

thanks for the link. Where do you think the Mirror Library is located at?

I am guessing somewhere in far south like Calimport.

I imagine they would place the mirror library in a place of great safety and stability. Perhaps somewhere like Waterdeep or Silverymoon.... Or perhaps in the lair of a powerful ally...

I agree with Cunning Linguist on the Oryndoll Illithinds attacking for knowledge. After all Oryndoll is the city of Loretakers(?)...something and knowledge is power!

Hello,

There is mention in the Underdark sourcebook of an entire city of Illithids dedicated to hoarding all knowledge. They take by theft all that they can and destroy copies of anything they already have. They also apply this method to sentient beings as well.

They'd be prime candidates to lay siege to Candlekeep.

:D

That would be Oryndoll. In Drizzt Do'Urden's guide to the underdark it states that it is the oldest Illithid community in Faerun and compares to Candlekeep in terms of knowledge.
