Changing Races [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-28-03, 12:08 PM An evil mad scientist type guy (who is also a dedicated D&D nut), invents an evil device of mad science, that will turn everyone in the world into a member of one of the races found in the realms. What race would you be? Why? What do you think Faerun would be like with our technology?

07-28-03, 01:47 PM With my luck, I'd probably get turned into a Chondathan Human or something. Exciting, no? Of course, since it's the Realms, that Chondathan Human might have extraplanar blood. ;) I think I'd make a good Air Genasi.

07-28-03, 09:17 PM Hopefully a drow, cause I'm good at their kind of thinking. Illithid wouldn't be bad, but I'd likely be told to join the elderbrain early with my knowledge of technology.

Gnomes are too stubby for my liking, even the svirfnebli are scary short. I'd make a good goblin though. I can be a perfect coward when I have to. And as a goblin I'd have to pretty much all the time.

given the coice i think being an avariel or drow would be good, though maybe not drow because of the whole light blindness thing

given my luck though... hmm... probably a human, or a half elf or half orc, or halfling, something with half in the name anway ;) but if the powers that be (i'll get them one day) were feeling REALLY cruel toward me then i would become a... a... i cant bear thinking about it... A GNOME! AAAAAGH! or a goblin or... or... something else beginning with G which is pitifully weak and small, sorry all you gnome philes, gnomes just scare me. oo or if i were EVEN MORE UNLUCKY a drider, EGH! becoming spidery and everything, NASTY.

ok ive calmed down now, BY THE GODS I CANT FIND SEND! OH THE SUFFERING, THE PAIN! THE... oh its there *looks around to see if anyone noticed that little outburst and scurries off to hide from the evil gnome making machine*

07-28-03, 10:10 PM I'd be an elf and definately not a dwarf cause i like to relax and enjoy life and have fun and i absolutely HATE to work.

07-29-03, 02:06 AM If I had the choice, I'd be a shade. They live the longest of all the (normal) races of Farun (Adulthood: 15, Middle Age: 300, Old: 450, Venerable: 600, Max Age: +6d%). Secondly, I'd attempt to be vampirized whether I become a shade or not. I know it wouldn't be pleasent, but if I were in the DnD world having the powers of both would be awesome. Reguardless, I'd also start taking class levels as a rogue, to which I'm well suited. (because I'm intelligent and dexterous).

My extraplaner heritage would be something blatently, exceedingly, inordinately CG (or CN with pronounced goodly tendencies). Something like a Ghaele Eladrin.

If it were up to my players, they'd probably make me be Szass Tam. ;)

3. spend a decade exploring the blacks hills, himalayas, or islands of the south pacific hunting and camping
4. get all the ladies because i am a winged elf
5. repeat like 30 times because i am an elf

wheel of furtune with my luck: deep gnome

1. turn into a twitchy, bucktoothed little freak
2. live out my twitchy, buchtoothed little life in abject misery but manage to build an impressive collection of shiny objects because i am a deep gnome and shiny objects are what i am about.

and to the question of thr realms with modern tech as of today, it would be scarry, as often as magic is available in the realms I cant believe the amount of magicaly enhanced weapons and biological weaponry, not to mention the impact of all the monster races on the planet just apearing would be quite destructive to the population.
