| Herr Doktor12-18-03, 11:09 PM | Before you read this (and in case you haven't got to check this book out yet) here is a quote describing what Chaositech is: Chaositech enslaves even as it grants power. Its addictive nature grants the Dark Ones a foothold in controlling your mind, your body, and even your soul. But still the Galchutt find people willing to make these sacrifices to harness its great power. Of course, many believe they can use chaositech without falling victim to its dangers. A few are even correct. Despite what it may appear, chaositech is not technology—it is technology’s dark and evil twin. It is not magic, but another power altogether. It is corruption and destruction given form. It is like nothing anyone in your campaign has ever seen before. Chaositech: tool or creature? Blessing or curse? Gift or shackles? Chaositech is all of these and more. NOT Technology, got it? Now then, I created this thread so that people with this material can discuss how to implement it into the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting. If I were to use this material in my own campaign, I believe I'd slip it into the hands of some appropriate Chaotic deities. Garagos might be interested in the mutations section (multiple limbs, supernatural feats of strength, et cetera). Any sort of corruptor god might see it fit to have domain over this as well. Talos would certainly dig Chaositech itself. With it he could transform his faithful into war "machines," wrought from the essence of chaos. Add the fact that Chaositech so closely resembles technology and that Mystra is an enemy of his and I'd say it fits quite nicely. What do you think? |
| Herr Doktor12-19-03, 01:55 PM | I take it nobody else has this material yet? It is rather new... It's pretty much about harnessing raw "chaos" and using it to manipulate ones own body. You can add very mechanical appendages (rotating saw blades, et cetera) along with your standard extra limbs, and other mutations. |

| Lashan12-19-03, 05:46 PM | I haven't gotten it, yet I have been reading about it on the Monte Cook website for a while. I've been thinking about this post since I read it last night. I think I finally came up with something. I would make Chaositech to be a tool of Moander. Moander is the god of corruption and rot. This is both spiritual and physical. I would say that the best person to use it in the Realms would be agents of Moander. The addictive nature of it feeds into his mythos. Since Moander is an old god, the "ancient" chaositech to be unearthed fits in with the Moander bit. If you don't like Moander, then I would recommend Shar. She also has a sphere of influence that deals with loss, bitterness, and other things that go with an addictive nature. She is a greater power and totally evil. She is a subtle evil, so having some sort of corrupting power would be up her sleeve. If you really wanted to make chaositech FR related, you can say that the whole thing is powered by the shadow weave. Shar has been around for a long time, too, and that can explain for ancient chaositech to be unearthed. Hope this helps. |
