| Kenzi08-01-06, 06:54 PM | I just joined a new dnd group and my old character won't work out w\ some of theirs so i have to start again from scratch =(......it has to be compatible w\ a lawful good paladine *grrr....* but id like for it to not be lawful.......i need some ideas here,my dungeon master is pretty open except for that i can't be evil *grr...*oh, and not that i have anything against them, but no dwarves plz.....any advice would be helpful The only good paladin is a dead one. |

If the paladin is the only front liner, go with a fighter. To annoy the paladin, make him a pure merc, and refuse to fight if "tha pay ain't right - donne both me wit ya causes!" - think Jayne from Firefly ("I didn't fight in no war.") If the party lacks healing, go cleric (of Tymora - "freedom is key, little paladin, not what you think everyone should do"). Or maybe a druid ("I answer to a higher law than yours - the law of nature"). If there's no arcane power (and everyone needs arcane power), play an arcanist. To annoy the paladin, try a Tantrist from the Book of Errotic Fantasy - a caster whose magic is powered by sex. Or an enchanter, and subvert others free will - that'll get a rise! Or an evoker - and "miss" occationally (CN - "opps - well, there's plenty more villages where that one came from!"). Or the classic I've seen at live role play - a pyrophobic fire-elementalist. He passed out every time he cast a spell. A character doesn't have to be effective (or even useful - look at bards!) to be fun to play. |
| Besshalar08-02-06, 03:57 AM | What do you have against bards ? They give out bonuses to the rest of the party through their song , have rudimentary casting abilities not to mention their social skills which are far above those of any other class ... That being said bards are still probably not the ideal first character. |
| Mordent_Sage08-02-06, 05:17 AM | I've not got anything against bards. They do have lots of things they can do, and can be useful. I was just being humorous (or trying to... :( ). That said, every bard I've every adventured with has been 9/10ths useless. That was most likely the person playing it, rather than the class. Bard - jack of all trades, master of none. |
| Kenzi08-03-06, 01:54 PM | Being and enchanter or an invoker sounds very interesting, and i like some of the sayings from the other classes. :D The best thing is i can annoy the paladine but she cant kill me because of my allies....i really like the sound of the enchanter. :evillaugh I'm not such a big fan of bards but they can come in handy, very handy as sheilds. srry all u bards out there. we already have 1 in the party anyhow. |
| Dark Wizard08-03-06, 03:49 PM | What do you have against paladins? |
| jmsblntn08-03-06, 07:51 PM | Have you thought about playing a true neutral aligned Druid? if the Paladine gets on your case just sic your Dire Bear animal companion on them ( JUST KIDDING) |
| Mecha_Pope08-04-06, 02:34 AM | Take the enchanter one step further and be a mindbender from the complete arcane! You get a drooling, brain controled slave, perminent charm spells.. etc. You would become the antithis of free will! |
| Kenzi08-04-06, 08:17 PM | *evil grin* Would that technically be evil? |
