I am attempting to create a storyline in which an outsider from a diferent universe all together winds up in Faerun. The whole story revolves around his attempt to get back home.

I need someone who is really good with fleshing out character development to assist in the creation of this character. (I am still learning how.) I've seen some good threads on Minor Deities and things like that, so hopefully someone out there has some time to help.

I have the basic premise and base character stats ready. They need some serious tweaking. Respond if you can help and I will post it.

Thanks.

-first of all, you need to think about the character's lifestyle in his previous world. think about what their hobbies, interests, associations, and the like were. it gives background on the character, and contributes to their personality.

-culture. think about what kind of society the person came from. this often dictates how people interact with the customs of others, which side they'll take in a conflict, what kinds of actions they support and which they oppose. This also adds to your story an internal journey; they might become more accepting of the ways that other people live their lives, and then, when he returns home, he has been completely changed.

-try not to be neutral. extremes usually have more interesting personalities. besides, neutrals tend to avoid taking sides in a conflict. This weakens the storyline, as conflict is the essnce of a story. if the character is too accepting of things, they won't be involved in any fights, making the story much less interesting.

If you need any storyline help, as well, e-mail me.
