| Morgrym10-13-03, 06:33 PM | I was preparing to run the City of the Spider Queen campaign when v3.5 was released. Has anyone seen or heard of someone or if Wizards modified the adventure? There are a ton of characters, items and monsters within this adventure that converting it to 3.5 would take a huge amount of unavailable time. Hope someone can assist. Thanks in advance. |
| Archade10-14-03, 04:27 PM | Hiya! I've been running my group through it, and making changes as they go -- and they're significant! I've been converting statblocks and making notes of changed CRs, spell effects and the like. I'd be glad to share my notes thus far -- email me at blair @ kwic.com (spaces added to kill spam). [SPOILERS!] Some of the changes are minor, such as Rangers. Some of the changes are significant (like Forbiddance won't keep out Kurgoth anymore!), and some are in the middle (Irae's tactics have to change, because summoned creatures can't teleport, scry has been changed, etc.). And CRs are very different (different demon choices have to be used for Summon Monster spells, etc). I'd be interested in volunteering my annotated notes to WOTC if they ever want to put up an official update (Mr. Baker?) Blair |
| Klyden10-15-03, 07:32 PM | It still irks me that they released City of the Spider Queen before 3.5 Edition! For that matter...I'm even more irked that a whole slew of material also came before 3.5...WotC should have focused on 3.5 before releasing all the source material that they did! |
| Amoun10-15-03, 08:46 PM | but it wouldnt have brought as many returns as quickly :P (not that I am telling Wizards they did the wrong thing, just stating a truth) |
| Morgrym10-15-03, 09:29 PM | Klydon I do agree but Wizard's has always been more focused on profit than anything else. I even wonder if they rushed 3.0 just so they could make 3.5. Reminds me of the days of Magic the Gathering and all the errata and rules changes. As much as gamers wanted an update after 2nd ed. after 10 years Wizards should have taken teh time to make sure everything worked correctly. TSR never had this problem, nor were their mistakes so drastic. Anyway enough of the rant if anyone else has other information, on updated CotSQ it would be fantastic. Archade has provided some excellent help as I am still reading it. |
| Archade10-16-03, 01:41 AM | I'll try to advise you guys as I update it. I work hectic hours, and I'm pretty much converting on the fly as I need it. Right now I'm feverishly trying to get Dorina done for the gaming session tomorrow... |
| Zanan10-16-03, 04:29 AM | Vendui! As far as I know, there has not even been a errata for the 3E version, which does (sadly) feature up to 80 ... let's say "mistakes & omissions". I have collected a few of those as well as some suggestions and DMs would be well adviced to at least spend a few minutes on those ... A short revision (http://www.dnd-gate.de/gate2/media/forum/myforum.php?url=http://www.dnd-gate.de/gate2/de/forum/Forum.html&f=4&t=32295) (start with the second article). Speaking of which, I don't think any adventure has seen an errata. |
