The PC's are out for blood, and want to permanantly destroy everythign evil they encounter...

I actually just started running this mod like 2 weeks ago, and ran into a question/problem whne my PC's faught Chahir (the vampire w/ his 2 spawn at the begining of CotSQ, the Dordrien crypts)

However, they were relentless, and decided theyw ere going to to whatever necessary to permanatly destroy the vampire. This entailed them using mirrors to bounce sunlight around the room and chase the smoke (which, as I later read in Libris Mortis, reflected sunlight does nothing to vampires p.140)

They have a paladin (who was using detect evil to know if the vamp was still "alive" or not) and they decided that the wizard's clay golem was going to just dismantle the building. (repeated slam attacks agisnt the walls, etc. then climbed onto the roof)

They then got angry when Chahir hid in the ruble in gaseous form, and then spread out all the rubble.

I finally decided that Chahir hid deep in teh cracks of the buildings foundation (and hiding deep enoguh to be out of range of Detect evil.)

In any case, can Chahir persue them into the crypts, and underdark? (I figure he shuld be a real threan in the underdark w/o any sunlight around)

I am just not sure if he can enter (since it's a family's crypt, can he enter, or does he have to be invited?)

if he has to be invitied, can anyone help me get him in, so he can pursue th PC's?

(they often do thigns like ths, and I desire to kinda teach them to let thigns go...it's not necissary,a fte ru defeta him, to destroy his home)

Thnx for any input, and I apoligize for what I am sure are the many grammatical/spelling errors in my post.

The Dordrien Crypts were once a personal place (Burial site for the noble family of that place) BUT since the drow Used it as a conduit for raids quite often, IMAO it can be considered "public".
So i guess he actually CAN follow them.

Thnx, DonGnocci...

Does anyone know what the ruling for soemthign such as this, just because the drow can roam throguh ti freely wouldn't matter, but u have a point that it was once owned by a family... since there is no longer a livng (or undead?) emeber present which owns the land, is it then considered public?

How bad is it of me, as a DM, to just say Chahir finds a crack that leads down into the room w/ the bebelith or soemthing, and just gets in that way?
or to say the last remaing Dordrien family emeber is a lich, with whom Chahir is a ol' chums, and gives him permission to enter and pursue?

I would say that the crypt is no longer considered a "private" place. Thus a vampire could freely come and go as he pleases.

You could also say that the forces here hired him to guard the entrance from intruders, and thus give him access to enter the crypt, gives him a little more reason for being there.

Also, you don't have to explain to your PC's how he got in there. It's a mystery that they would have to spend a few days really trying to figure it out. Just play it out he is quite crafty at eluding the PC's and attacking them when they least expect it.

Also remember, if he went gaseous because they brought him below 0 hp, he has to go to his coffin, and if they destroyed it, then he is kind of screwed.

Yea Shiney Boy. You're kind of screwed. No bringing Chahir against Tiny. :)

Thank you for the comments, so sicne Chahir went gaseous of his on will, he can simply chase them indefinitly?

(as it happens, the poster 'Monk" is one of the PC's in the campgain and doesn't want his clay golem, 'Tiny" destroyed."

secondly, what defines his "coffin?" doe sit really have to be a stone box, 6x4x4? can he jsut carry some pieces of his remaining coffin? can he aquire another?

City of the pider Queen is a very good module. With lot of Sub-Quests around the underdark. Your PC's really hated the poor vampire Chahir. But my PC's when i did the master for that adventure did the same, they destroyed the vampire's coffin (after defeating him, so the poor Chahir had the final rest).
Your idea of pursuing the PG's is good.....imagine your pg's weakened after a fight with drow, and before the can re-organize Chahir attack them....If i remember well Chahir was a sorcerer, so che can use invisibility...eheheh. Great!

I am running this for the first time this weekend and have determined that (1) the crypts are public and (2) he WILL pursue the PCs. Thanks for the info re: hiding in the rubble!

Glad I could help; if anyone's interested, I suggest trolling for feats from Libris Mortis, I decided Chahir took the feat that let shim give negative Levls when thye get hit with one of his spells. Magic Missile is now more devastating than ever.
