Hiya.

The new issue of Dragon addressed some alternate clerics, and one of them was the Evangelist, a cleric that can cast divine spells spontaneously. He uses the same spell template as a sorceror, meaning the same spells known per level, and the same amount he can cast. This variant cleric lost the ability to turn undead, but instead he gained the ability, at every fifth level, to add another domain to his list (Level 20 would have 6 domains).

Now, this brought to mind the druid. I was wondering what the balancing factors would be to have him cast a limited number of known spells spontaneously, using the same spell template as the sorceror, and this new cleric variant.

I know there is a system that allows you to make a class/prestige class in a balanced way, but I don't know that system. I was wondering if anyone out there could address this option. Is it too powerful for a druid? Too weak? Would there be a need to change the special abilities the druid gets as he levels? Or can someone just take the sorceror spell template, and replace the druid's old one with it (with druid spell, of course)?
