I'm participating in a play-by-post game set in the Realms. Neither myself nor any of the other participants are big on reading the related novels. There is only so much of a perspective for the setting that a player can get from reading the Campaign Setting book. Despite the lack of resources that are being used, we've tried to capture the essence of what the Realms are about in our characters and the storyline.

For those of you who are long time veterans of the Realms, your comments and feedback are appreciated. Even if you're a short time player, your comments are appreciated.

Thank you!

One of the biggest things to remember about FR is the details.

Forgotten Realms due to the pure fact of how it was created, how long its existed and how many great (and not so great) minds have tampered with it there is so much Realmslore out there.

In the very first post I read something about a wanted sign for people stealing from a temple. What temple was it. Which god? The holy location out of town...what was it and which god. There are huge numbers of gods..and try to tie in a enemy of that god who might do that..or a enemy of that enemy looking to frame them.

But yeah in general I think description of npcs, little hints to their religious, political and personal beliefs rock. Factions, Gods, Races and all that sort play a heavy role. Also alot of things not being what they appear to be is great. Magic is everywhere and its easy to hide.
