I purchased a set of the core rulebooks ~February of '03. Soon after I discovered that WOC were releasing a newer version (3.5). I decided to see if the kids liked the game before worrying about it; they do and I do. I recently purchased the Forgotten Realms Campaign setting and can't find any descernable differences between the book and my third addition rulebooks. This wasn't a problem but I'd like to get a few more books and am wondering about compatability issues. Do any of you have any suggestions to solve this problem?

EDIT: I should add that I tend to buy my books on line and don't get much of a preview beforehand.

FRCS is 3.0 - atm only underdark is set for 3.5 - all previous books was for 3.0 core rules ( and need to bve converted to 3.5 by himself ... )

Thanks for your input. Now a follow up question; how difficult is it to convert from 3.5 back to 3rd addition? In other words if I buy a book that is 3.5 how difficult will it be to use with the 3rd addition books I have?

Hello Rhodry,

I'd hazard a guess that it won't be too difficult for you at all.

Your best bet would be to make sure to learn which spells, skills and feats were re-named (such as Expertise being re-named Combat Expertise), as well as which were deleted and/or added on to other skills, feats and spells (such as the Alchemy being deleted and rolled into the Craft Skill, if I recall correctly).

Also, note that all the monsters in the MM were significantly improved (better HP, Skill Points, etc..) so you may have to "dumb down" certain creatures to keep them in line with a proper challenge for your 3.0 party.

Finally, I believe there is at least one online resource that lists every single element of 3.0 that was revised in 3.5 (thankfully lacking any tirades against the game designers).

I wish I could remember the address for it (I seem to recall a few people around here have it in their signature line). I highly recommend you head over to the DnD General board to ask if anyone knows the address for that website.

Hope this helps!
