Complete Champion? [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-25-07, 04:31 PM I have a fighter lvl 8. He is worshipping Lathander, and he is very religious. I am wondering if there is any fun stuff in the Complete Champion? Is it woth buying?

07-25-07, 09:25 PM In my opinion, only if you are running Greyhawk.

I bought it. There is stuff worth converting, and there are plenty of PrC's for Pelor, so if you want it, go ahead. I'd suggest looking it over closely first though.

At first I thought the Domain Specializations were too strong, but they eat up a ton of Turn/Rebuke attempts, so I actually still like Divine Might Better.

07-26-07, 07:25 AM It's not a book designed for fighters, but it's a really good supplement for clerics and paladins. Two feats that really stand out for paladin is Awesome Smite and Battle Blessing. If your fighter is looking to gain smiting attempts by adding a PrC like Divine Champion, it might be worth getting. And although the Domain Specilizations do use up a lot of Turn Undead abilites, they are pretty good, espically Law Devotion.

07-27-07, 04:12 PM The feat to speed up Paladin spellcasting is worth the book all by itself, and some of the Devotion/Reserve feats grant some nice utility, especially to your non-Cleric divine spellcasters.

07-31-07, 10:29 PM In terms of a Fighter of Lathander, there's almost zero reason to get it.

In terms of usefulness to a DM/campaign/whatever, check out the many threads on it in the general forums.

Battle Blessing, Awesome Smite, Law Devotion are some of the best feats for paladins and smiting clerics. Ordained Champion is an OK prestige class, but there are others that are pretty good too. On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the worst, I'd give it either an 8 or 9, depending on the type of classes you play.
