Complete Perilous Gateways? [Archive] - Wizards Community

Now that the Perilous gateways articles have been archived will WOTC bundle all the articles together and create a PDF like they did with the Elminster speaks articles?

02-27-04, 08:05 PM The Perilous Gateways series has indeed been discontinued. In the archives (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/main.asp?x=fr/archive2,3), it appears as a discontinued feature, along with Elminster Speaks, Circle of Velarr, Mintiper's Chapbook, and Realms by Night (and soon to be joined by Wyrms of the North, which only has a few dragons left to update).

At 30 diverse groups of portals, with 4 or 5 portals each, the series has covered at least 120 (I'm not going to bother counting), which is, quite frankly, far more than enough.

02-27-04, 08:58 PM Huh. I'll be dipped. I always look at the 50 Most Recent Updates page, not the FR archives, so I didn't see that.

Personally, I liked the feature. Yeah, there was a bunch of them, but they were interesting enough that I didn't mind.

I wonder what's gonna replace it?

And I am more than a bit irked that they didn't bother to say anything; they just quietly ended it without a word. :mad:

02-28-04, 09:54 AM I think Rand's Travelogue is the supplemental 'we had way too much information to cut from this regional sourcebook that the authros insist we get out there' feature. It hasn't been closed because Ed, being who he is, will always have more to tell, and every time he writes a Forgotten Realms book, there's always something that didn't fit. I wouldn't be at all surprised if some of the stuff cut from Serpent Kingdoms finds its way into Rand's hot little hands and onto the website. For now, though, there's just nothing to put there.

02-28-04, 08:19 PM That may be because Ed didn't write either of those books, and therefore there simply wasn't as much (useful?) overflow. My understanding of life as we know it ("the Realms") is that for every page Ed writes that sees print, there is another that doesn't, and at least five more he'd write if only he could find a way to add more hours to his day. Considering that all reports thusfar suggest that there was far too much material written for and cut from Serpent Kingdoms, I wouldn't be surprised if some of it made it to the website, either as a web enhancement, or an entry from Rand.
