Juron of the Unknown 06-28-03, 06:01 PM	For the past while (years) I've rolled up characters using a variety of methods. I've waded through the sourcebooks, fine-tuning my characters and become completely frustrated every time changes or additions/deletions were made. This is the computer age, for heaven's sake! Even the D&D character generator that came with the 3rd E Players Handbook is woefully obsolete. :mad: Is there a character generator available that won't cost and arm and a leg, can be set to the Forgotten Realms or standard Dungeons & Dragons campaign settings and is updated with little or no cost as chages to the gaming world(s) are made? I'm not looking for a resource that contains every shred of info that was ever produced, just something that would be fairly comprehensive, containing all of the necessary character building data that is needed to create full-bodied characters. Ideally, it would even let me modify monsters into PC's. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ~Juron of the Unknown
FineasBoggs 07-06-03, 09:40 PM	Well there is PCGen, and of course etools with its plethora of bugs even after two patches. Wait for the data sets to come out and then you should be in business. To be honest both of those programs are somewhat lame. I remember the clown the did the in the works section for wizards writing about how awesome the program was. Of course we now know he was full of crap and was only a salesperson. I've yet to find a program for generating characters that did all of the things you would want it to do, create feats, prestige classes and races. While both of the afore mentioned programs do some of those things listed they are woefully inadequate.
