lithian lightfoot 09-06-03, 12:19 PM	I`ve just been thinking about Cormyr and it`s recent past. I was also thinking about Tymora and Beshaba. Now, if history is to be beleived, then Tymora had made Cormyr her favored land, specifically Arabel. This is indeed the city she visited as an avatar during the Time of Troubles. Now, would it not seem to most, maybe it doesn`t, that if this was Tymora`s favored land, then it would be Beshaba`s least favorite. Not because of any other reason than spite for her hated sister. So if my reasoning is not too far off so far, then Beshaba would love to hurt Cormyr and it`s citizens, those snooty folutty Tymora worshipping gits. This leads me to beleive that there could have been some divine intervention in the recent down fall of so much in Cormyr. I don`t know, it`s just a thought. I know there is no mention of any divine intervention in the novels about the Goblin wars of Cormyr, but it is an interesting speculation to me.
bat141 09-06-03, 07:45 PM	I suspected some draconic or elven curse. I don't think the Cormyreans were the best of neighbors in the past. And I think any expansion into the forest of the elves would carry some kind of ancient retribution, divine or otherwise.
lithian lightfoot 09-07-03, 03:01 PM	I know that in the end the destruction came from the elf, I can`t think of her name off the top of my head. However, I just wonder what Beshaba thought of the whole affair. I guess I also wonder if Tymora will make Cormyr her chosen land again and if the preists will try to establish a strong hold in Arabell as it is currently in rough shape. I think that with all the new struggles going on a few gods that weren`t necessarily aloud in the country will show up. I`m thinking that Beshaba will definately try to get a popular vote. Along with Cyric as there is so much strife going on. Shar will try just because she can, the Banites will love this chance to strike back at Cormyr for all those years of hassle. I think that Bhall will make a definate apperance and that by the time COrmyr re-groups, the Zhentarim will have a strong trade from Sembia to the Marches, now that the Stonelands aren`t going to be patrolled as much.
bat141 09-07-03, 03:33 PM	tymora, we could use her grace tymora, what has she done for us lately. I see those as the two arguments about Tymora. And where there is greed, there is Cyric. And I am sure the someone will be looking to enefit at the loss of others.
lithian lightfoot 09-08-03, 11:11 PM	I think that it would be safe to say that Tymora brought a lot to Cormyr. Look at the many years of peace under Azouns rule. There was the repellion of Gondagel, the Horde and that's about it for Azoun the IV. Most of his rein was relatively easy compared to what a king might have to go through. Also, Tymora's preist may not have been able to stop the Goblins, but neither were any other gods. I think that She has done more than most gods by offering her favor and preist to the country. That is what I think they can say she has done for them. Maybe its me though.
Kvol 09-09-03, 01:40 PM	Sure, Cormyr hasn`t had much fortune in the recent past. Then again, it geographic location is not too conducive to the quiet life. You have Anauroch and hence the shades not far to the northwest, the ruthlessly capitalist and opportunist Sembia to the East, and the Moonsea not far to the North. Not to mention the fact that troubled Scardale may soon be firmly in the pocket of Zhentil Keep. Add to that the fact that internally, Cormyr has some really nice hot spots for all manner of monsters (Stonelands, Vast Swamp, Farsea Marshes, Storm Horns, Hullack Forest et all). All in all, its not really a place that should be ripe for habitation, much less appropriate for the demands of an advanced, civilised society. The fact that the Cormyrians have managed to achieve just that is a testament to their determination and strength in adversity. It just, by virtue of where they live, when they do encounter problems, they are always likely to be BIG problems. No wonder they are given to the worship of Tymora. With a country like that, luck comes in very, very handy.

The reason I ask is because I am playing a campaign in Cormyr and am wondering if I should re-integrate this religion in the area as heavily as before, if not more so. Im basing the campaign in the Stonelands but will be bringing the PC's south into Arabel because of a threat they have found there to the knew king. Anyways, during their time in Arabel they will encounter many challenges and I am thinking that it would be nice to have the Tymorian preists helping them out, as long as they are willing to help spread Tymora's good graces....
