| Drath'ri07-30-05, 01:42 AM | ok heres the thing. they are at the end of it all. Irae has finished her Great Revenance spell and they have barely a day left to stop her from casting it. Party consists of a 17th level Drath'ri (Think drow alufiend), a 17th level Moon elven shadow adept taking her first level in archmage, a 17th level Moon elven rouge/OotBI, and a 17th level Moon elven cleric/Dracolyte. Now Irae just cast the spell Morality Undone (BoVD). turns them evil for an extended amount of time on the Rouge, Rouge of course fails his will save and become evil. (btw the rouge and the cleric are played by the same person). Am i within my rights as a DM to say the Rouge just gets up in the middle of the battle and leaves (partys kinda losing) seeing how whats the point of him even trying to stop Irae and her great revenance spell, maybe even sacrifice his own life in an attempt to stop her seeing how he now no longer cares what happens to the people he was trying to save and cares nothing about the party. (The person that plays the two is kinda ****** hes losing one of his characters that he barely pays attention to anyway and can even bother roleplaying in towns or at all for that matter. Hes one of those munchkin type of people who has to take control of everything. like where the party goes and what they do even what door they open. and he does all this cause he controls half the party and if they dont do what he says he just makes his two characters go to sleep) so would it be plausible for the rouge to leave cause their isnt anything in it for him anymore? |

As to becoming "evil" during the course of a battle due to a spell, I could still see fighting Irae, just one wouldn't care so much about harming the other party members in doing so. After all being evil doesn't mean being stupid. You still look out for number one, and if she is trying to kill you........ |

It's a lot better if you make the party deal with him rather than you having to do it, keeps you from being the bad guy, and it might make him start to behave. |

A Belief is a perception of something given life, a sort of twisted mirror which shows a exaggerated and generally evil view of the character who it is built around. These Beliefs, always hunt the originals to show that they are superior. So your bossy munchkin rogue, or cleric, can face the ultimate munchkin rogue or cleric, and the best part of this is, as they are Beliefs, you cannot kill them via normal means. The only way to get rid of them is to change the perception that created them, which means a character must grow or perish. It is just a wonderful way to both run a creative campaign, and get someone to RP when they clearly aren't doing. Just remember to attack the character not the player, and it can be lots of fun. If this player doesn't enjoy it and leaves, well you win anyway by the sounds of it. As to your current scenario, the trouble there is that the rogue probably doesn't care about his companions, but will want to get revenge. LE and CE may have their own reasoning too, a LE character could argue that being lawful, they have to keep their word, a CE character could just want to hear the death screams of the enemy, followed by the painful demise of the rest of the party. |

Now if the battle is close he will probably leave instead of risking his neck in any way. Plus given time Irae could probably convert him. Also remember if he is dominated now when he gets a save is going to be completely different. |
