Couple of Questions on Forgotten Realms [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-30-04, 08:30 PM I have a couple of questions that I need/would like to be answered and I know all of you here could answer them for me :) Lol.

1. In Toril, I heard there are two contents on the planet. Now it's always "Faerun This" and "Faerun That". What is the second places name and why hasn't it been spoken of?

2. Where is Elaine Cunningham? I've been to her site off and on recently and she hasn't updated it at all this year, not a thing. I was hoping we would hear more on Liriel Baenre soon and all that fun stuff. Hell, I'd love to see a Drizzt/Liriel Book of sorts! (If it was even one, tieing in two different series? Wouldn't it be cool'ish?)

Ok, with those two Forgotten Realm question, I've came to my slightly off topic one.

I've decided that I would like to try and write a book(s) for Forgotten Realms. After reading everything, knowing that they don't accept outside stuff, etc. etc., I still want to write it. Now I'm slowly in the works of an off-Realms short story, but that is where I come into my problem...

What is "Technicaly" called a Short Story? Like how many pages and/or chapters?

Ok, Thanks to anyone(s) who can answer these questions! I highly appreicate it!

(And NO! I'm not a newb! I just lost my old account and password...which sucks because I look like a Newb...)

There are actually numerous continents (as shown in the FRCS), the most well-known of which being Faerūn. Maztica, Kara-Tur, and Zakhara are three other named continents; there are several more unnamed ones.

(And NO! I'm not a newb! I just lost my old account and password...which sucks because I look like a Newb...)

You can get your old account back by contacting one of the site moderators if you remember its account name. They can also check it against your IP address if you don't remember the account name.

When WotC owned Dungeon magazine they had a page which gave outlines for submissions, including short stories. I am not sure if the new owners have a similar set of guidelines. I would also recommend getting advice before you spend a lot of time writing a book or short story that is not intended to be fanfiction (made available for free). The actual Forgotten Realms setting is owned by WotC and there will be copyright restrictions about using the setting. I suggest you email custserv@wizards.com for more details.

BigSister: I wasn't trying to make a novel suggestion, just it kind of popped into my head as I was writing that question ;)lol.

I do know how ever that Wotc owns Forgotten Realms and everything, and do know of the copyright restrictions, thus why I'm writing an off-Realm/Dungeon/Ebbereon/Whateverelsemightbe short story, and not some type of FanFic (Personally, I don't like Fanfics.) of any sort. But I will email them and try to get more information on Short Stories and all that fun stuff.
