Ken Woods and Tim Turner were longtime players, and Rob Findlayson, David Mattinson, and David Mocek brief visitors to the Realms. Of those listed, here's a more complete "who played whom" roster (remember that all NPCs could and were taken over by players when their characters died or were rendered unconscious in the midst of an expedition): The Company of Crazed Venturers: Dumal Erard (NPC) Loene (NPC: a slave rescued and freed by the Company) Malchor Harpell (Victor Selby) Nain Keenwhistler (Ken Woods) Savengriff (Ted Turner) Tolgar Anuvien (Victor Selby) Trunnian Regallis (Victor Selby: on first Undermountain expedition, freed a captive elf female, went through a gate to Evermeet with her, and married her, departing the Company on the spot) Tzarrakyn (many players shared him) The Knights of Myth Drannor: Doust Sulwood (Andrew Dewar) Dove Falconhand (NPC) Florin Falconhand (John Hunter) Illistyl Elventree (NPC) Islif Lurelake (NPC) Jelde Asturien (Victor Selby: took priestly name of Jelde, started out as Semoor Wolftooth) Jhessail Silvertree (Jenny Glicksohn, Anita Buttemer) Lanseril Snowmantle (Ian Hunter) Merith Strongbow (Jim Clarke) Rathan Thentraver (Andrew Dewar) Sharantyr (Cathy Widdowson) Torm (Victor Selby) Yes, hundreds of other characters appeared in my campaigns as NPCs before seeing print (such as Azoun, Khelben, Piergeiron, Mirt, Durnan, Elaith, Alusair Nacacia, Storm and all of her sisters except Qilue). I've since retired from that library system (though I still work in libraries), and the short-term campaigns ended some years ago, but over 150 other players were involved in them (none of their PCs have appeared in print). I would agree that my players are some of the most important and undercredited people in the development of the Realms. Ian Hunter was the first Lore-Lord of the Realms (he forgot NO detail, however small), and my players demanded the depth of detail that you see in the Realms (they didn't, however, ever create names or places, or act as DMs). |
