In creating a Drow PC I have a question about the Sleep poison.
Can any Drow create this poison themselves. If so what would be the steps or requirements. If not, what would be the normal process of obtaining it. Also, where can I find more information on creating a 3.5 Drow PC (other than the books) or do you have any tips for a Drow fighter. Thanks,

Michael

You would need a certain level of maybe Craft, to make drow sleep poison. Also the ingrediants consist of a potent venom. Either spider or viper venom. There is 2nd edition source that details it more, maybe complete guide to elves? If not, there is a short description of it in 3.5 Monster Manual under Elves/drow. You can obtain it in any drow-allied city or underdark town, from any merchant that knows that's good for him. Also, I would think noble houses give free poison access to their members. And more info on a 3.5 drow, is best described in Races of Faerun. I doubt there are many other good 3.5 drow pc sources.

If you are going to be in an underdark campaign, I recommend some good armor and many minor magical defenses. If you are going to be on the surface, I recommend any item or clothing that will conceal your drow heritage. Be prepared to be hated by all non-drow, even your non-drow allies.
Good Luck!

The following 3 are the only known official versions of Drow Poison. None has a craft DC listed, they all would be Craft (Poisonmaking) for the skill or if a DM wants to lump things together Craft (Alchemy).

Drow Knockout Poison: The dark elves are renowned for their use of unconsciousness-inducing poison. They carefully guard the secret of their venom, and it is difficult to find outside of drow realms and outposts.
Craft: Only from Drow.
Source: Races of Faerun, Underdark.
Fortitude Save: DC 13 (Injury).
Initial Damage: Unconscious for 1 minute.
Secondary Damage: Unconscious for 2d4 hours.
Price: 75gp.

Drow Poison: The dark elves are renowned for their use of unconsciousness-inducing poison in subterranean ambushes. They carefully guard the secret of their venom, and it is difficult to find outside of drow realms and outposts.

Source: City of the Spider Queen.
Fortitude Save: DC 17 (Injury).
Initial Damage: Unconscious for 1 minute.
Secondary Damage: Unconscious for 2d4 hours.

Sidenote: The Knockout Poison of CotSQ was the standard drow poison of 3E, while the one listed in Underdark and RoF is the toned-down (Fort save) 3,5E version. You may use the Savage Species one as the higher-DC version in 3,5E as well though.

Thanks, haven't given my Complete Adventure much of a look beyond a quick skim of the PrCs, Feats, Magic and stuff like that. Didn't even look at the skills revisited section.

The Complete Adventurer lists the Craft (Poisonmaking) DC as:

DC to Create: 15
Price: 75gp
Type: Injury
DC to resist: 13
Initial Dmg: Unconsciousness
Sec Dmg: Unconsciousness 2d4 hours

So if I was running it, I would say that there is two kinds. One more potent then the other. I would bump the DC of the craft check to make the tougher of the two up to 20.

But that's the info from the Complete Adventurer, hope that helps anyone that doesn't have it yet. :D
