I was just looking at this event on the WotC page and was thinking. What kind of characters (Non Iconic) would you place in the area? Would use realm specific characters like Fey'ri? Or something more general like elves? What kind of characters classes would you use? Or prestage class?

And who would you think would win?

Just a thought and question.

-Beholders are challenging to nearly every Class. Go with a Beholder. You really can't go wrong.

-Of course, conjure up the Tarrasque. Now, there is a challenge...

Okay. No Iconic characters or hyper-monsters like the Tarraques. Something with a respectable CR. No CR 400. Something that could be balance like if an powerful elf, dwarf or human were enter a fight.

Sorry for the slip.

-Alright then. Use the Beholder. They are only a CR 10 or 11 (I believe. Don't have a fir if I am off). They are a definite challenge for magic-using classes, and are not complete push-overs for martial classes. They're pretty good, all around.

Yes to the Malaugrym. Yes to the beholder, but maybe something to deepen the link to Faerun like a Zhent prestage class (The Zhentarim Beholder?) or making it part shadow dragon (Dark spells to increase powers) or a class with realms links (Like a beholder cleric 2 of Bane). Things link that.

The first Creature Competition already had the Tarrasque and a Beholder (well, an undead Beholder Swashbuckler pirate) in it. Both lost (though the Tarrasque got to the semi-finals).

I tried nominating a Phaerimm for the second competition, but it didn't get in (I'm not complaining though, since my Paladin nomination did). Probably wouldn't have made it far anyway though, considering how unusual it is and how few non-Realmsians know of them.

Another thing I tried nominating for the second competition was a Wild Elf Half-Vampire Ranger/Blackguard (I'd have made it a Blackguard of Talos if I'd thought giving deities wouldn't be a detriment to its entry). A concept I plan on using in my campaign actually. Not too Realmsian without the deity (since Wild Elves are in the MM), but the connection is somewhat there.

Personally, I'd be interested in seeing how a Nishruu would fare in such a competition. Very interesting creatures those. Not sure what you could do to one beyond just advancing its HD though... it'd be kinda hard to give it any classes. Perhaps also a Volodni - a race of plant people is interesting indeed to me. Give it Ranger and Nentyar Hunter levels.

The next competition being a Dragon one, I'm trying to think up some nice Realmsian Dragons even now. I've got a decent (or at least I consider it such anyway) Shadow Dragon set up (I believe Shadow Dragons were originally from the Realms, yes?), and I'm thinking a Dracolich may be in order (they too were Realms [and Cult of the Dragon] originals, yes?), but if anyone knows of any other Realms-specific Dragon races I could use, I'd love to know about them :) .

Fang and Song dragons were originally Realms dragons, from Monster Compendium: Monsters of Faerun (ver 3.0).

I'd probably want to put in my CR 16 NG Hornhead Saurial Wz3/Drd3/Geomancer8. He's awesome. :D

How about an axiomatic half-fey vampire awakened badger druid 7?

How about a sharn of some kind?

I like the Malungrym idea alot, that seems very appropriate.

Or how about the avatar of Bhaal that Storm fights in Stormlight.

It's not an avatar of Bhaal, it's an avatar of Bane :)

-So, tell me about that axiomatic half-fey vampire awakened badger druid 7...

I'd go with the Tarrasque. It's the ultimate Fighting/killing machine. It could tear a Great Worm Red dragon appart with its eyes closed!
