Awz 04-05-04, 01:23 AM	I have the Player's Handbook and The Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting and I'm not sure what book to get next, any suggestions?
aravilar_holistacia 04-05-04, 01:27 AM	That depends on your personal preference, I think... but I recommend getting the Player's Guide to Faerūn (the 3.5 update to the Forgotten Realms) and probably get the Monster Manual as well. Also, if you want, you can get Races of Faerūn too; that sourcebook is excellent for background and culture on many of the Faerūnians races. :)
Telagaunt 04-05-04, 02:56 AM	Some fun books are the Underdark (kind of like the FRCS but soley for the Underdark :D ) and Lords of Darkness was a cool book :D You definately want the Monster Manual.

Orion the Raven 04-07-04, 07:13 AM	I recommend Magic of Faerun. I have thumbed through many of the others, or read reviews on them and opted not to buy because I disliked some of the information (My campaign is very much based on 2e info that was not compatible with what was in the updated books.). I did buy the Silver Marches because many of my adventures center on the north, but I prefer my old The North boxed set to it (Although it is a good book.).

The_Declaration 04-08-04, 09:10 PM	i would split add-ons in two: * Books about the setting in general. * Geographical sourcebooks so it depends what you need *About the Realms. I would narrow to 3: - Races of Faerūn: it's not the most useful one, but it's a great read and you'll learn a lot about the setting in general. Kind of the perfect general sourcebook about the Realms - Lords of Darkness: fool of vilains, very useful, fun and cool book - Magic of Faerūn: very good one, depends how important is magin in your campaign I don't think Faiths and Pantheons is worth it, it's a plain catalogue of Gods, 2 pages per divinity + some prestige classes. Boring like hell. Then we have the Player's guide, that is actually only about rules. Spells, Prestige Classes, feats, ... it's well done but it's not nice to read and i think there are more important ones. I'd say it's perfect to complete your collection when you have a couple of other books. * Geographical. Well there are not so many of them yet. - Silver Marches: The level of detail is impressive, almost too detailed actually. - Unapproachable East: my favourite, it covers a wider area though the level of detail is lower of course. But it allows you to create your own NPCs, towns and stuff. - Underdark: don't have this one on paper, i actually don't play in Underground yet.
The_Declaration 04-08-04, 09:19 PM	but of course, i'd go for DMG and Monster Manual first!! the list looks huge, but don't worry, with the 3 core books (PhB, DMG and MM) + FRCS you can play for a long time, then you'll know on time what ya wanna enhance in your campaign. it's just that they're (almost) all awsome: nice to read and useful, so Forgotten Realms ROCK.
