| Paladin_of_the_Phoenix09-06-03, 01:37 AM | I'm trying to make a kid version of D&D for my kids to play. Like training wheels before I throw in riddles and complex traps and such. For right now they won't know how to RP, so it's just hack& slash. Does anyone have any ideas for dumbing down the D20 system? |

| Paladin_of_the_Phoenix09-06-03, 02:28 AM | My kids are between the ages of 5 and 8, They can all count, do basic addition and subtraction, and they can read very well for their age. But I'm not sure if the beginner supliment is "Dumb" enough for them. |
| kedi09-06-03, 03:45 AM | don'T let them confuse with BABs or STs, just rolling dice. Use dices, they're very important, if you can't teach them dices, the thing is over. Belive me, when they gets into this, they can RP better than we could cause tthay have unlimited imagination, so don't worry about that. Don't use spells, not any one, even I get confuse when I play a spellcasting class and I play for 3-4 years. the descriptions, CLs... really tough for them. Don'T use any race or class not in PHB, no PrCs, no other races. the ECL, CR thing would be hard. teach them feats and the skills, they are musts, they'll learn quick because they'RE not so big deal(skills), but feats are hard, you can choose to not to teach feats. And don'T worry, when hey really got into this, you can say, "hey kids, there area additional races, Hey kids, this is a shiny sorcerer" etc:D good luck, don't give up |

| Lashan09-06-03, 05:44 AM | What about the old DnD Basic set? It was made in 1977. It has such wonderfully simple concepts of Elf and Dwarf are classes and there are only about 8 1st lvl spells. I played that when I was in the 3rd grade and loved it. I'm sure you can find it on Ebay or somewhere. |
