D&D on GBA [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-24-03, 05:40 PM i just bought "Eye of the Beholder" for my GBA, and was wondering if any1 else has played it and what they think of it. this thread can be like a game review for those considering buying it. here is my oppinion :
"What a waste of my freakin money, what the hell was i thinking, i am stupid! stupid! STUPID!"

what do the rest of u think???

08-25-03, 12:36 AM Well i looked at the box at one point, but when i noticed the graphics for the combat mode looked like a bunch of stick figures with toothpicks, i decided it may not be worth the money.

They have great (well, great for handheld) gpu, yet they think they can rip us of with this kind of poor graphics.

Wizards should be ashamed to have put there names on this game.

08-25-03, 02:15 PM personally I liked Eye of the Beholder... The game series (Eye of the Beholder 1-3) really got me into D&D. I'd like to say that I played the game when it first came out... was that in 91-92? I cant remember... *sobs* Ahh beautiful days back then, hehe I remember playing Ultima 6 a bunch... it was and is a good game... For those of you complaining about the graphics... well its an old game... I dont know why they published it for the Game Boy.... *shrugs* maybe cause it doesnt cost em much to create it (or edit it I should say)... If you are a veteran gamer, one that has more than a decade under your belt, Eye of the Beholder is a good oldie game... graphics were good for the time hehe

08-25-03, 02:34 PM I have that game and I was severely disappointed.

I could get beyond the graphics but the game TOTALLY lacked ANY kind of depth. There was little by way of magic, you were clueless at the items benefits/stats (is 'x' sword better than 'y' sword?), the battles were repetitive with LITTLE variation between them, some skills/spells were totally useless having NO utility in the game (Detect Secret Doors comes to mind as well as Search)...

All in all, it was a disappointment... and this is comming from someone who REALLY expects very little.
