I'm thinking about making Dantrag, Weapon Master of House Baenre from the Legacy of the Drow . Any ideas on levels? I'm thinking 15 or 16 levels of straight fighter, but I'm open to suggestions.

Dantrag was defininetly a good fighter. He used his death lance and longsword against Drizzt. So, i'd say somewhere between 16-18 levels of Fighter.

I remember that he thought he would have been an equal to Zaknafien, but Im not sure. Maybe that was Uthgental.

I remember that Uthgental used a trident, and was said to have been beaten by Zaknafien. In the old 2e books, it said that Zaknafien was somewhere around a 24th level fighter. So, maybe we can use that to judge where Dantrag is, in terms of levels. He was defeated by Drizzt, in the tunnels above House Baenre, and Drizzt was probably at least a few levels lower before the attack on Mithral Hall. So, It really is wide open.

I just skimmed through Menzoberranzan, the boxed set, and found that they listed Dantrag as an 18th Level Fighter in 2nd edition. So, I figure anywhere around that level would work.

Dantrag favored lighter weapons, or the more a-typical drow warrior. Unlike Uthgental, who favored heavier maces and relied on his muscles, Dantrag fights with speed and skill. Although, Dantrag still utilizes the heavier armors and weapon skill typical of the Fighter class. I just figure to give him a good deal of feats that benefit his dex and speed, such as the Whirlwind attack feat tree. He also relied on mounted combat occasionally. He favors his riding lizard/deathlance combo. They list the Death Lance/Spear in City of the Spider Queen, and Races of Faerun, I believe.

So, if Uthgental was beated by Zaknafein, Zaknafein was beaten by Drizzt, what levels should be given to the three? Not, what levels have been distributed, second edition is dead, drop it in a shollow grave and let it rot. Think in terms of third edition dungeons and dragons, okay.

Thanks for that reminder, Vengeful.

Im not going to do the work for Maskondel, but I will offer any information on the subject I have. The only information I could find on Zaknafien, Uthegental, and Dantrag, were in 2nd edition. And, I did offer my opinions on their levels.
