What this new project is? http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ps/20040903a Gwendolyn: When designing creatures for Monster Manual III, I worked for Wizards of the Coast as an editor. I spent many evenings and weekends writing freelance and honing my design skills. Recently, I was hired by Wizards as a full-time designer. Now my day job's my dream job!Currently, I'm working on a Forgotten Realms project that explores some of the darker aspects of the setting. I'm also shepherding Frostburn through its galley phase as its managing editor. |

| warlockco09-04-04, 03:17 AM | I could see her working on a book of that nature, especially with some of the stuff done in the Fey Feature. Just wonder when the Fiend book will be officially announced, chances are it will have revised information for Book of Vile Darkness also, or one could hope anyhow. |

Well some of the BOVD was updated sorta in the Player's Guide........ |
| Yamo09-04-04, 02:24 PM | I find the whole notion of cheesy novels dictating "metaplot" to a game world pretty dark... :weep: |
| Kuje3109-04-04, 02:30 PM | I find the whole notion of cheesy novels dictating "metaplot" to a game world pretty dark... :weep: And yet they have since the beginning of the published setting, so why should this change? The 1st printed FR material, except for what was in Dragon, was a novel. It beat the box set by a month. |
| Yamo09-04-04, 02:45 PM | And yet they have since the beginning of the published setting, so why should this change? Not every tradition is a healthy one. Shirley Jackson wrote an excellent short story to that effect. |
| Kuje3109-04-04, 02:46 PM | Not every tradition is a healthy one. Shirley Jackson wrote an excellent short story to that effect. In your opinion it's not healthy. Many of us happen to like the novels for metaplot. :) But this is turning into a discussion that is banned from the boards, so let's drop it. |
| warlockco09-04-04, 07:23 PM | Well some of the BOVD was updated sorta in the Player's Guide........ True, but some of the material in Complete Divine, nerfed material from BoVD, and a book on Fiends would be a good place to add more 3.5 material for and revise BoVD material. |

True. :) I'm still looking for updated rules on the use of souls by the lower planar beings. Or even better, ideas on how they use souls, besides as currency, etc. :) |

Or even better, ideas on how they use souls, besides as currency, etc. :) Yep, yep, the Fiend book once it is out should be interesting. And who knows the Undead book in October might have some uses for souls also. And more material from BoVD to add and revised. |
| Herr Doktor09-06-04, 04:15 AM | There must be more to this than just these big fiendish types... I'm sure if they dug deep enough they could fill a book with stuff on them, but I don't think that'll be it. What else do you think could be included? Maybe it'll simply be MORE Lords of Darkness or something to that effect? |

| Zanan09-06-04, 07:21 AM | Hmm seems likely You mean it seems likely that someone who writes about fey is going to write about Abyssal Lords and fiends from the Nine Hells? :nonono: |
| Tempus66509-06-04, 11:05 AM | Fey from Hell... Sounds interesting :) But I hope this 'Fiends' book will have more content than just a couple of Abyssal/Infernal lords (although I would be more than a little happy if it included Tyranthraxus). |
| Gray Richardson09-06-04, 01:01 PM | Fey from Hell? Sure! Haven't you heard of Fey'ri? Okay, they are from the Abyss, but still... Anyway, Gwendolyn has written such excellent stuff in her Fey Features, that I am sure she will do a fantastic job with the FR Fiend book. Same as any fiend, faeries are just powerful outsiders when you get down to it, right? And her great writing tells you she knows how to handle mythology, characterization, plot and mechanics. I am really eager to see all the wonderful stuff she comes up with! |
| Kuje3109-06-04, 01:05 PM | Gwendolyn also wrote parts of the Planar Handbook. Yes, a lot of people dislike a lot of that book, but the point is she DOES have planar knowledge. :) |
