| Yaeri10-09-07, 05:38 PM | Loving the maps in the Grand history of the realms book -not the art in particular, I preferred the style of the one in Lost empires- of parts of Faerun as they were in the days of yore, I asked Richard if they considered making more such for a web enhancement. Regarding a map for a web enhancement, I haven't heard of any such plans. Is there a particular map you folks are dying to get your hands on? I'll certainly suggest to our web team that it might be a great article. No reason it has to be tied to the Grand History. Me personally, I'd prefer to see maps of the really old empires in the days of old: the Sarrukh, Batrachi,... An underwater map of empires at the bottom of the seas and oceans would definitely float my boat too. But what are your ideas? I'm pretty certain some of you have desires for some other interesting maps. If some consensus on this can be reached, it may be interesting to show Richard, so he can tell it to the web team. :) |
| MarkusTay6310-09-07, 10:19 PM | I plan on doing a post-Imaskar map showing all the survivor states. With Brian James' input, of course. :D A better one for the Crown Wars would have been nice, or at least a seperate one showing the north. Most of the entries concerning the Elves post-Crown Wars have no map for a reference. I was also hoping for some sort of Maztica Map, but then I realize we might not even have a Maztica in 4e, so I won't hold my breath. |
| Dark Wizard10-09-07, 10:53 PM | I'm still looking through the GHotR, so these may already exist. Maybe a map of the undersea kingdoms and empires. A map of the area around Netheril shortly after the fall? (At the time of the greatest number and variety of survivor states and petty kingdoms. There was something similar in GHotR, but it focused on the three major city-statess). Cormanthor and other elven nations during the Seven Citadels war. I've always liked the map in the Hordelands supplement showing the territory overlap of the biggest empires of both Faerun and Kara-Tur that spread into the Hordelands. An update of something similar gives some good historical context. Map of the the era when Jhaamdath, Calimshan and the Old Empires had their overlapping borders and disputed territories. The Shoon Imperium and their rivals. |
| MarkusTay6310-10-07, 12:48 AM | I certainly hope that the maps in the GHotR will not become the standard format in 4e. They were pretty and all for a historical reference, but I've really gotten to love the style of the 3e maps. Obviously... |
| Yaeri10-17-07, 11:13 AM | I thought more people would be interested in extra historical maps. I would love to see more of them. But they probably won't be very inclined to make new maps for three people. :-/ I didn't like the style of the new maps (aside from the forests) but I very much like their content. (I included my thoughts about the map art in a review on GHotR on amazon.com.) :D |
| Iakhovas10-17-07, 02:17 PM | I know of at least one new (ancient) map you'll see in the weeks to come. |
| meto3010-17-07, 02:22 PM | Detailed map of Chessenta, with enough details to run a military campaign on it. But that's just me, so I won't expect it :) I'll just have to draw the maps myself then... Oh this is going to be so fun. Logistics lines, troop movement, reinforcements, messengers moving to and fro, scouts, all the details for those peculiar type of players who want to have maximum interactibility with their surroundings. |
| Yaeri10-17-07, 02:50 PM | I know of at least one new (ancient) map you'll see in the weeks to come. What? Where? You can teww me  |
| MarkusTay6310-17-07, 03:28 PM | You can teww me :bigeyes:Are you offering sexual favors for an 'advanced viewing?' :uh-huh: I want to see the maps too, but I just don't like Brian THAT way. :P ;) |
| Yaeri10-18-07, 09:15 AM | Are you offering sexual favors for an 'advanced viewing?' :uh-huh: I want to see the maps too, but I just don't like Brian THAT way. :P lol. I hope teww doesn't really resemble or insinuate something I wasn't aware of. But it is a good idea. If I can persuade him that way. Is Brian cute?:D |
| MarkusTay6310-18-07, 11:50 AM | When you read it out loud, it sounds lke "you can DO me". :P lol. I hope teww doesn't really resemble or insinuate something I wasn't aware of. But it is a good idea. If I can persuade him that way. Is Brian cute?:DYou can see for yourself HERE. | Iakhovas10-18-07, 08:15 PM | :heehee |
| Yaeri02-14-08, 04:14 AM | I know of at least one new (ancient) map you'll see in the weeks to come. Did I miss it? :weep: I'm getting trouble finding the right stuff on the site ever since the haul-over. If it's there somewhere a link would be appreciated. :) Speaking of which... Want to know what some of the masterminds behind your favorite Realms products look like? http://www.hobgoblin.org/RealmsGenCon07.jpg From left to right: Rich Baker, George Krashos, Eric Boyd, Me (Brian James), Ed Greenwood, Richard Byers. Hmmm, only one of us isn't sporting a beard... Is Richard Byers trying to steal Ed's wallet? And exactly how deep is his pocket?! |
| Lord Karsus02-14-08, 07:50 AM | Is Richard Byers trying to steal Ed's wallet? And exactly how deep is his pocket?! -He's got a hole in his pocket.. |

If it's there somewhere a link would be appreciated. :)The new map was included as part of the Moonshae Grand History enhancement I wrote, which can be viewed here: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/drfe/20080110. The map depicts the Sword Coast circa -11,000 DR show many of the elven civilizations of the period, including the ancient Moonshae Archipelago off the Sword Coast. |
| Markustay02-14-08, 11:21 AM | WOW.... I was also hoping for some sort of Maztica Map, but then I realize we might not even have a Maztica in 4e, so I won't hold my breath.Sometimes I forget just how GOOD I really am... :D So when WAS that? Beginning of Oct? John Edwards, eat your heart out. :P |
| Lord Karsus02-14-08, 11:59 AM | WOW.... Sometimes I forget just how GOOD I really am... :D So when WAS that? Beginning of Oct? John Edwards, eat your heart out. :P -Yeah, oddly enough, I was looking at that, too. Weird. -What are the lotto numbers for next monday? |
| Markustay02-14-08, 12:08 PM | We are forbidden to use our powers for personal gain. :P Funny thing, though... we were talking about Fate, Luck, and statistics in another thread, and I think I may have just proven yours and Dans point. I take a look at ALL the data, synergize it, and come out with the most likely outcome, and I have about a 95% accuracey rating. Thats better then most psychics... :D And its done with pure logic... no magical mumbo-jumbo or phoney powers to channel the dead. |
| Lord Karsus02-14-08, 12:19 PM | We are forbidden to use our powers for personal gain. :P -We, who? Karsus does what's good for Karsus. Now, the numbers, please? I'll donate some of it to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. A very worthy cause. Funny thing, though... we were talking about Fate, Luck, and statistics in another thread, and I think I may have just proven yours and Dans point. | Markustay02-14-08, 12:23 PM | Well, unless Kenzuki thinks I am magical, I think I've just proven my point. ;) And that was a royal 'WE' - something you Karsii should be familiar with. :D |
| Lord Karsus02-14-08, 12:27 PM | Well, unless Kenzuki thinks I am magical, I think I've just proven my point. ;) -He might, who knows? And that was a royal 'WE' - something you Karsii should be familiar with. :D -And, it is true: You are Markustay and MarkusTay63. So, there are more than one of you. A Half-Demon, Half-Orc. A Tannurrk (Sp?)... |
| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin02-14-08, 02:58 PM | -He's got a hole in his pocket.. Haha, I know what you're talking about! |
| Markustay02-14-08, 03:03 PM | Yup... that cartoon invented the Portable Hole. :D |
| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin02-14-08, 03:16 PM | WOW.... Sometimes I forget just how GOOD I really am... :D Well, saying "there might not be a Maztica anymore" in the wake of so many other crazy changes isn't that prophetic. But I have to admit, on the whole you seem pretty good at figuring out what's going to change, or at least the general direction of the changes.:) |
| Lord Karsus02-14-08, 03:19 PM | Haha, I know what you're talking about! -Yes. -But, upon further review, and on reccomendation by my sister, we've come to the conclusion that Mr. Byers' hand is not in Mr. Greenwood's pocket, but instead, is trying to grab a little sugar. Grrrr....;) |
| 18DELTA02-15-08, 01:14 AM | Well, saying "there might not be a Maztica anymore" in the wake of so many other crazy changes isn't that prophetic. | Yaeri02-15-08, 03:10 AM | WOW.... Sometimes I forget just how GOOD I really am... :D lol. Though I found it odd, two Markustay's, I always assumed you were two different posters. |
| Lord Karsus02-15-08, 04:39 AM | lol. Though I found it odd, two Markustay's, I always assumed you were two different posters. -One is the good twin, one is the bad twin. ;) |
| Markustay02-15-08, 09:09 AM | I prefer to think of us as the bad twin/worse twin. :D Actually Yaeri, this is my 'away account', and my original. I keep them seperate just folks know when I'm away from my sources, so anything I might say its just from memory and should be taken with a grain of salt. |
| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin02-15-08, 01:34 PM | -So...Markustay/MarkusTay63 MUST be stopped?:P 18DELTA;) No, he just shouldn't let his hobby as a prognosticator go to his head.;) :P |
| Markustay02-15-08, 01:40 PM | True... my head is swollen enough as it... I think it's a birth defect... :P |
