| Unleash02-13-04, 07:06 AM | Hello all ! Here's the long-winded bio of my first 3.0 Character, dating 2 years back. He's evolved over time, and I finally converted him to 3.5. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated ! :D: A) Razvrek, the unwilling barbarian. (Kobold Barb1) : From an early age, Razvrek showed hints of intelligence and intuition far above the average capacities of his race. Nonetheless, he showed every bit as much of cunning and maliciousness as his peers in crafting devious traps of all sorts. On top of his "keen" intellect, Razvrek was gifted by a gait as swift as that of a running deer. But for all his intelligence, strangely enough, he was also proned to fits of terrible and uncontrollable anger, unleashed by the tiniest of provocations. The tribal shaman, prior to reincarnation, dismissed his concerns, telling him he must have been a cranky wolverine in a former life. He told him to see his situation as a boon. But for Razvrek, any common day for him involves lot's of inner termoil against this affliction he personally considers his curse. One day, a stranger ventured on their turf. From their hiding places, Razvrek and his scout comrades spyed on the intruder:a lonefemale human! Dressed in a long elegant silver robe, with only a finely crafted walking stick in her hands, she seemed rather defenseless. Our reptile friend was barely an adult at that time but his abilities had put him in a spot of some authority, at the head of the tribe scouting patrol. They were certain of their numerical superiority and tactical advantage but an uneasy feeling in Razvrek's guts dictated him to be prudent. He reasoned a course of action that would minimise any risk factor...but since he also was the fastest on his feet, he'd logically ( ) have to take the role of the bait. So out of concern for his tribe, he ordered his fellows to stealthly go back to their cavern and get ready to ambush this stranger. Waiting for the opportune moment, he leapt out of the shadows and tried to taunt and lure his opponent. Unfortunately, the female had been aware of his presence and she immadiately started mumbling, waving one hand around, and using the other one to pull out a straight piece of iron from a hidden pouch under her robe. Dumbfounded, Razvrek hesitated when he felt a sudden wave of paralysis submerge his scaly body. Mustering all his might, he repelled the numbness. Unfortunately, his body perceived the attack and insticinctivly proceeded to put him over the edge, in an inner place where only chaos, blood and destruction exist...with a low growled, he slowly advanced toward his attacker, wielding an oddly two-bladed shaped weapon, made of crude bones. "My!", the lady wizard proclaimed, "Most unexpected, little one! You shall do splendidly!", she said, a wide smile on her gentle features. "Now stand STILL!" Razvrek's, on the edge of sentience, saw his body stop at this new command. "Follow me." He tried resisting once more, but failed. In an ordely fashion, he followed her, walking besides her against his own will, to a city filled of fabulous towers, denizens of any Realms and guarded by a Silver watch. B) Razvrek, the giant lizard. (Enlarged Kobold Barb1): The Kobold was taken hostage. For several months now he had been imprisoned in a magically sealed cage. For serveral months now, every day, the Silver Lady (whom he had personnaly nicknamed Orcpoo) read to him from the other side of his prison. She told him of the Realms, of it's people, of it's culture. She told him about Silverymoon, it's passion for knowledge and understanding. She had told him in his own tongue why she had captured him: to mend his savage ways. She had taken a bet with a fellow mage, that she could "convert" a kobold from it's former evil ways. So during the course of several years, Orcpoo tried her best to reeducate him, to stimulate his mind and his imagination. He was her pet and her lab rat. She never mistreated him, but she was obsessed by knowledge in any of it's forms. Potions after potions, elixirs after elixirs, vials after vials, he tasted it all, drank it all and sometimes vomited it all. Strangely enough, the Kobold's rapid metabolism didn't digest everything...over the course of several months, Orcpoo noticed her guinee pig had started to gain volume. After half a decade of experiments and tutoring, Razvrek acquired tools from his mentor to deal with his darker side, he learned to enlarge his vision of the world and to progressively feel compassion for others. He also grew to be the only 6 feet tall Kobold in all the Realms! Maïka, as the mage was really known, had won her bet and had gained a precious servitor in the Kobold's person. He tended to her hawk familiar, ran her errands and kept her lab neat and tidy. Among her peers, the wizard constantly talked about her reptile apprentice with evident pride. Slowly, Razvrek earned the reputation of a gentle and kind human size Kobold. C) Razvrek, military man. (Enlarged Kobold Barb1/Ftr7): One day, she decided it was time to let him go. She contacted a Lieutenant friend from the Silver Guards of Silverymoon who had been witness to Razvrek's slow metamorphosis over the years. Always amazed that the pet Lizard had become a great individual, the Lieutenant heeded her call. That day he tested and probed Razvrek's deepest beliefs. Finally satisfied, he offered him the chance to enroll in the City guards. With sufficient training and selfless devotion to Silverymoon, Razvrek could one day hope to earn his silver armor. A goal that had been Razvrek's ultimate fantasy for several years. So did the valliant Razvrek. He trained hard under his Lieutenant's watchfull eye.The Two-bladed weapon he had once designed out of animal bones was replaced by a masterfully crafted steel version. At first though, he used a simple quarterstaff to practice, his Lieutenant fearing any fatal mishap with a normal metal version. Further on, using it as his sole weapon, he slowly got in tune with, developping his own fighting style from it, composed of vicious 360 degrees spins and endless twirling strikes. Although Razvrek didn't like that all this violence was coming so naturally to him. So has a gift, he asked his former mistress if she craft him a magical quarterstaff that could turn into his favorite weapon on a whim. He had that request so that he could use the blunt, less fatal ends of the quarterstaff most of the time, only resorting to the Two-Bladed Sword in desperate situations. He had found out that injuries could easily turn his inner peace into inner turmoil, so he concentrated on developping a fighting style mainly aimed at defense. After training, he participated in multiple campaigns to pacify the outer region of vile humanoid, he served as diplomatic emissary with a band of Kobolds that had set sights on a nearby gold mine, avoiding unecessary bloodshed, and opening a modest trade route between Kobolds and the Humans. Unfortunately, his dark side was always present, sapping most of his energies to detain it within. Once it broke loose with near devastating effects for some of his comrade in arms. He was trialed for those actions, and assumed the consequences. But his comrades pledged in his favor, having come to slowly understand his perpetual inner dilemma. D) Razvrek, the Silver Guard. (Enlarged Kobold Barb1/Ftr7/Kensai1): Having been fully graced of his acts he could finally join the Silver Guards. At the age of 37, Razvrek received the great honor of being the first Kobold to ever enter their ranks. He had once cursed that fateful day when Maïka had entered his life, but it is now without regret that he patrols the walls of Silverymoon, guarding them with his life. On the edge of his thoughts though, his former self constantly haunts himm ever looming, forever a part of him, just waiting for him to slip up... P.S.: I made him a silver guard of Silverymoon, but any suggestion for another similar city / organisation will be seriously considered! (i.e. anything less cliché :D) |
