| Iron Cobra06-27-05, 12:54 PM | I did, and a few comments/questions. Did the artist for Icewind Dale 2 contribute? (seems like they did) Are the Gloamings or Chitines new or fairly old? (as in D&D, AD&D and such) Has anyone fought an Elder Brain yet? |
| Lashan06-27-05, 01:16 PM | I know the chitines were first introduced in a Dragon magazine module way back in the mid-1980's. I ran that for some friends in high school ages ago. Or did I play in it? I don't recall. I don't think they were originally victims of drow expiriments, though I could be wrong. The chitines were also in a module that was right at the tale end of 2E called "The Standing Stone", which I thought was terrific. Ummm...I thought the Underdark book was so-so. I bet I am in the minority, though. I just don't really play Underdark campaigns and only have the occassional deep delve that the book goes on about. That and I have a strong aversion to anything drow these days. It's hard to have an underdark campaign without a whole lot of drow. It's an alright book for what it is, though. |
| GothicDan06-27-05, 08:38 PM | I didn't like it. But there's a lot of 3E books that I haven't particularly liked, or those which I suspect I would not like from reading samples, and from the discussions here. Ones I haven't liked (or am fairly sure I wouldn't like): Player's Guide to Faerun, Unapproachable East, Underdark, Faiths and Pantheons, Champions of Ruin. One's I like (or am fairly sure I would like): City of Splendors, Races of Faerun, Serpent Kingdoms, Shining South. So-so: Silver Marches, Magic of Faerun, Lords of Darkness. |
| Alac Luin06-27-05, 10:05 PM | It does appear that this book is the first appearance of Gloamings. (I liked Underdark, but it doesn't compare to the 2ed books that covered the same areas.) |
| Pystian06-28-05, 01:25 AM | I think Underdark is probably my favorite book from 3rd edition. |
| WALKAN06-28-05, 04:04 AM | Yea, cool book. Devastators are nice little monsters. |
| druid berrymore06-28-05, 06:23 PM | Did the artist for Icewind Dale 2 contribute? (seems like they did) Vance Kovacs did some concept art for Icewind Dale, and he also did illustrations for Underdark. |
