11-21-03, 01:19 AM I haven't heard any talk about how good the book is, is it released in stores yet? I wanna buy it but it costs alot, does anyone have any positive or negitive things to say about it before I drop tons of cash on it? heh thanks

11-21-03, 01:40 AM There's a board for it over on the main boards, since it's not really FR specific, even though it has some info taken from old FR material. :)

Well I don't own it, because right now I can't afford 40 bucks for it. But I did make some comments about it. See these links.

11-21-03, 02:19 AM i just read your posts kuje and i agree, these book prices are killin me too :( all these great books are out and the only one i own is the Underdark do to low funds.

Aye :(. I'm cutting back I guess, and only getting FR books lately from WOTC...... And some 3rd party books that I use to help draw ideas out of when I DM.

11-21-03, 09:45 AM Yeah, the book prices are high. I'm not convinced that they're worth it... $30 I could do, but $40 is too much, thinks I.

You want me to list them all? That'll take to much room. But Sword & Sorcery, Bastion Press, Mongoose Publishing, Green Ronin, Fantasy Flight Games, AEG, and a few other misc companies that some times have titles that look interesting to use for DM'in.

11-22-03, 06:37 PM I'm in the same boat. I'm rather short on cash and I am only buying the books I really need or want (I won't buy something just because it has the D&D or FR logo on it).

I was thinking about getting the complete warrior... But the more I consider it the less I think I'll find it useful. I have some unexpected extra money though... I may buy the Fiend Folio, as we don't have that yet and I liked some of the creatures in it when I was flipping through it at the book shop.

Perhaps I'll just buy the war of the spider queen novels that've come out in paperback... We'll see.

About the Draconomicon:

I haven't had a chance to look through this book yet, so I'm not entirely certain but I believe this book contains new rules about creating a dracolich.

I have the 3rd Edition Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting, which is the original 3rd Edition source on creation rules for these undead dragons.

I was wondering is someone wouldn't mind sharing the changes between new and old dracolich creation?

If you don't have the FRCS to compare I could post the old creation info here, though, I'd rather not. I don't want to half to ask permission to post it (takes too much time) and I'd rather not post the rules and hope that fair use applies.

The best place to buy any D&D book is from Amazon. Their books are 30% off. If the purchase is $25 or more, then you can get free shipping, which Draconomicon is. You just have to wait a bit. It only took 4 days to ship it from Kentucky to San Diego, California.

11-23-03, 01:57 AM I just got the book. So far I am happy with it. Some cool new spells, PrCs, and info about each color and age of dragon.

11-24-03, 12:10 AM It is QUITE spendy compared to 3rd ed. books when they first came out,.. but I'm a huge dragon buff. My primary character is a dragon disciple. I feel this book is tremendously useful. the dragon style feats and spells are quite handy. not to mention all the info available no playing as a full dragon. I highly reccomend this book.

11-24-03, 12:45 AM Personally, I'm glad I got on someone's "Share the Love" list from Amazon. With the S.T.L., you get an additional 10% off of the purchase price (so 70% x 90% = 63%, or about $19 for Draconomicon)...

Now I just have to get it for the Complete Warrior...
