02-27-05, 08:34 PM I have a question about something in Menzoberranzan. Matron Mother Triel Baenre had her son Jeggred in a ritual coupling with a demon of the Abyss. I've also read other situations of draegloths born. Is it a rule at Arach-Tinlith that all graduates have to consort with a demon or something to that effect? Or do some do it for fun? I need help!

Salvatore's Homeland, the top Priestess from a graduating class undergoes a ritual mating with a Glabrezu at the graduation ceremony (Drizzt watched such beggining at his before he fled the room in horror, and then heard the student's screams above all the others once outside).

I don't know if it says anywhere if that was how Quenthel conceived Jeggred, but its possible. If not, such rituals must occur at other times in Drow society as well, as it did say that Jeggred was conceived in a "ritual mating" with a Glabrezu (I'm pretty sure that these ritual matings must be with a Glabrezu specifically, not just any Demon: Homeland mentions the graduate Priestess calling the name "Glabrezu" specifically, and Jeggred's father is one [hence the 4 arms that Draegloths have]).
