andinel 08-30-07, 08:09 PM	It is a good idea to read the books in order (chronologically, not published), so you know the characters' backgrounds and such. The order of the series is: Dark Elf Trilogy Icewind Dale Trilogy Legacy of the Drow Paths of Darkness Hunter's Blades Trilogy You can keep reading, but I do suggest you read the other books as well.

Some plots and whatnot might be ruined simply because you know what the current stat of affairs is of each character, so things like near-death experiences or "close calls", while still exciting, might be less so because you know the character's gonna survive. As it is, though, if you're enjoying the books and are already into the trilogy, then don't stop. I've done that all the time with comic books. You jump into a series at some point, you like it and decide to try and get the back issues. It can be fun, and everyone has to start somewhere.
Alurvelve 08-31-07, 04:28 AM	The newest triology comes out next moth with the first title The Orc King (the trilogy is called Transistions). I would suggest reading the Dark elf trilogy first and work your way from there.

andinel 08-31-07, 04:35 PM	The Legend of Drizzt is just a series of reprints of all the older novels with new cover art and such. The chronology hasn't changed.
bondious 08-31-07, 11:12 PM	The Legend of Drizzt has, thus far, taken the previous novels and put them in chronological order...along with making them uniform in appearance and using Todd Lockwood to do all the covers. So far all they've done is switch around the Icewind Dale trilogy and the Dark Elf trilogy, though I'm not sure what book they're on now nor if they're going to include The Sellswords trilogy as well.

According to Amazon.com, they've so far released all of the books up to 'The Silent Blade' (book 11). When I search for 'Spine of the World' and 'Sea of Swords', there are listings (but no pictures) for them as books 12 and 13, and are due to come out in November and March. I can't find any "Legend of Drizzt" titles for any of The Sellswords or The Hunters Blade titles, probably because they so recently came out in hardcover (parts 2 and 3 of The Sellswords) and that new 3-book hardcover "Collectors Edition". Maybe they'll re-release those when they get to it, though I'm curious how The Sellswords trilogy is going to fit into The Legend of Drizzt.
