| POPE09-22-03, 11:58 PM | Hello, I was not sure where to post this. I am considering an invasion styled campaign. The invaders are a suped up race of drow. What it comes down to basically are psionic drow shades. They have defeated the illithids and the rest of the underdark. They did this by making a home base on the plane of shadow where they made some genetic enhancements. They are a race now so deviant from the normal drow that they have enslaved many of their cousins. Now they have turned their attentions to the surface of the world where their distant ancestral cousins were driven from long ago. Their goals are these: Elven genocide Complete dominance of the surface world To enshroud the world in eternal shadow and gloom The leader of the invaders is a 1/2 fiend psionic drow shade[necromancer/priest] Most others are psionic drow shades priests are 1/2 fiends bred warriors are 1/2 dragons rank and file warriors are fiendish drow They are allied with a group of shadow dragons They use giant scorpions as companion creatures in the war Now there will be a group consisting of 2 priests, 4 warriors and 2 rogues that will be directly opposed to the pc's. General tactics are: work at night or severely overcast days use shadow powers to travel and surprise All or most have dimension door so they have good mobility mostly guerilla type tactics until they gain a strong foothold then a more traditional invasion strategy I have a few questions: What levels should the pc's start at?[between 8 and 10 of them] Should I change anything as far as the monsters go? Is the psionic drow shade an interesting and viable combination? What might you do differently? |

If it is the Shade Drows patron should be Shar (This might be a handly way to Introduce Viconia an NPC from the Bg series into your game as shes a drow Cleric of Shar) You should also apply the Shadow template to all Shade Drows allies ie the Giant Scorpions |
| Triton09-23-03, 07:57 AM | The level of the party would be dictated by the level of the drow shades or vice versa. Maybe ditch the half fiend part. You get 50% chance for bat wings and some good ability bonuses, but not anything else than the shade template. The half fiend can be added to any corporeal, shade can be added to any humanoid, so i guess a shade drow can become a half fiend on top of it. Are your drow still CE? Do they worship Shar, Lolth, or someone else? How is their hierarchy done? Priests, mages, matrons, or other? I would make them NE, Shar followers, led by a high level mage/cleric. Located in the Underdark under the eastern Sharr were they can fight gold dwarves, nomads, elves, humans, and Dambrathan drow and half drow. :behold: |
| Morka09-23-03, 09:15 AM | Those super-drows should be NE or even LE, they are too organized to remain CE. They should worship Shar and maybe Vhaerun. This revolution could be done right now, while Lolth is silenced. The regular drows could still be CE, and worshipping Lolth and Selvetarm. Eventually, the PCs should make an alliance with Lolth worshipper to start a guerilla in the Underdark. As for the level of the party, they could start very low. The first encounters they should make should be with some recon patrols, so they may gain levels quickly. |
