I have two questions regarding this Forgotten Realms adventure, Prison of the Firebringer, that appears in Dungeon Magazine #101.

(1) Can anyone help me break down Bazim-Gorag's AC 34 (page 53 of the magazine) into its constituent parts (i.e., Dex, natural, etc.)?

(2) In v3.5, what would Bazim-Gorag's "damage reduction 30/+4" translate into? (Keeping in mind that he's a Slaad Lord and all that...) Might this be an example of the "complex" damage reduction that we see liches have; for example "damage reduction 30/magic and damage reduction 30/lawful"?

Thanks for the assistance.

Rich answered part 2 of your question in his thread. :)

I'd go 15/lawful, it's a step up from a death slaad.

Rich, just a 3.5 question regarding the DR of your fabulous creation Bazim-Gorag. It would seem most of the adventure is 3.5 compliant but for his DR. I think its listed currenty 35/+4. I was thinking of 15/Lawful and Magic, or 15/Good and Lawful. What would your expert opinion suggest?

I hope this hasnt been asked before..

In case anyone cares, I was able to figure out the answer to #1.

AC 34 (-1 size, +3 Dex, +17 natural, +5 deflection)
touch 17 (-1 size, +3 Dex, +5 deflection)
flat-footed 31 (-1 size, +17 natural, +5 deflection)

The deflection bonus comes from his ring of protection +5.

Bazim-Gorag is just absolutely awesome!

He's one of the few BBEG's to ever survive a "climactic end-of-story battle" with my PC's.

I can't wait to advance him with Fighter and Blackguard levels, suit him up in Full Plate and give him an Astral Dreadnaught for a mount, for use in Epic play later in my campaign!

Woohoo!

Hey guys!

I've just received the Silver MArches guidebook but haven't the stats of Bazim Gorag. Could someone be kind enough to send them to me?

Thanks a lot.

Hello everyone,

Precisely! I hope to tweak him a bit with material from the Book of Vile Darkness also. It just seems like a natural progression for him since the PC's managed to fight him to a stalemate. He wants revenge and victory!

Can you imagine Bazim-Gorag in wicked looking full plate on the back of an Astral Dreadnaught while at the head of a legion of Dragon Riding Githyanki Blackguards, sweeping in to lay waste to Suzail and the surrounding environs while Githyanki slave rader ships materialize in the air behind Bazim's forces? :smirk:

On a side note: I sometimes wish they'd let Rich Baker go hog wild for a month. Which is to say he could spend all that time writing up the most wicked and dangerous NPC/Monster descriptions he can think of to put in a splatbook.

I'd buy a book full of Bazim-Gorag level nasties in a heartbeat.
