| maynardjkeenan08-04-05, 03:51 PM | Yes. It is... Contains tons of cool stuff. |
| Crust08-04-05, 03:51 PM | Dungeon is great for DMs who don't have the time (or, in some cases, the desire) to write up modules from scratch, draw and key maps, create NPCs, etc. I recently subscribed to Dungeon after learning about the Age of Worms adventure path they're including in each issue. That will be the base for my next campaign, which is set in FR. In fact, paizo.com has online supplements and pdf downloads that provide FR and Eberron conversion rules and various fluff. Each issue has three modules, many written by well-known artists like Eric Boyd and Sean Reynolds. I strongly recommend Dungeon, especially now that modules are few and far between anymore since City of the Spider Queen. It's a fantastic supplement for any DM. |
| WVgamer08-04-05, 03:59 PM | the next three Dungeon Magazines will have a Realms module. That is a plus for you if you don't like to adapt. (You should see some Homebrew people with Dragon magazine and how they hate to adapt) If you DM, get it. If your DM isn't that good, get it. If you think your DM is fine and you don't DM, only buy it if you see an interesting adventure. |
| Steel Rabbit08-06-05, 01:43 AM | Wizards has made it so that anything that is produced 'for Greyhawk' will be so vague that it could fit into any setting easier. I mean, any DM worth a damn can covert the Age of Worms to Forgotten Realms...I did, it was freakin' easy, taking up all of two seconds to change the name of the free city from Greyhawk to Waterdeep (oh, wait, Erik Mona did that for me :rolleye2: ). C'mon, Forgotten Realms gets it's own supplements out the ying-yang, Greyhawk gets whatever Wizards decides to let their Janitors write. I think it's o.k. if a couple of issues of Dungeon feature a GENERIC adventure that just so happens to take part in Greyhawk, the GENERIC campaign setting. That being said, my friends and I are having a ball with the Age of Worms, it's really entertaining especially with all the cool traps in the dungeons. I realize that I don't put enough traps in my homebrew adventures so it really catches my party off-guard. |
| warlockco08-06-05, 02:44 AM | More Traps is better. I once had a party terrified of the though of opening anything in a dungeon once. Not my fault the only Rogue failed his save to a Teleport Trap  Sad thing is with a few exceptions, the traps were just meant to weaken the party, a d6 here, 2d6, d10 here, ect of damage. |
| Moscone08-12-05, 09:50 PM | Hmmm... Vampires of Waterdeep... it sounds cool... :thinks: |
| WVgamer08-12-05, 10:32 PM | From what I hear, it is. I was going to pick up a copy today, except I couldn't find it at the store I was at. Guess it'll have to wait until Sunday |
| Angurwald08-27-05, 01:32 PM | Is there any reason to subscribe to Dungeon if you don't use Greyhawk? Ya. Good stuff. Good site support from Paizo too which is nice. Most of the stuff is generic enough and can be adapted to about anything. You get wilderness and urban type adventures as well as straight dungeon crawl. Other stuff too beside adventures, like Warduke héhéhé! :D --A. |
| Petrankov08-31-05, 09:22 AM | Yeah Dungeon is certainly worth it. One of the most interesting adventures I ran last year was from Dungeon. The characters had to basically foil a bank robbery. I used it as a side trek because all the players to the main plot could not show up. I also use it when I want a dungeon map that is well done or ready made NPC's to throw against the party. |
| Bocklin08-31-05, 10:49 AM | C'mon, Forgotten Realms gets it's own supplements out the ying-yang, Greyhawk gets whatever Wizards decides to let their Janitors write. I am a janitor and I feel offended by your comment. We janitor can write good adventures and good RPG material. That's not what we do for a living, but we are nevertheless good role-players. I do not see what's wrong with being a janitor. I think it's o.k. if a couple of issues of Dungeon feature a GENERIC adventure that just so happens to take part in Greyhawk, the GENERIC campaign setting. Yep, but, to be honest, since the Age of Worms campaign has been written by an excellent Greyhawk sage (Erik Mona), it means that a lot of the plot and back story is anchored into Greyhawk (Kyuss, Dragotha, Rod of Seven Parts, etc.). Of course you could adapt it well to the FR or Eberron or whatever setting you want, but that's not the case that the module is so bland or so generic that you do not realize anything. Actually most of the FR or Eberron fans who are not so Greyhawk-savvy (like myself, for a start) might end up missing a lot of that excellent Greyhawk stuff in there. But that's of course still easy to adapt to the FR. Bocklin PS: I am not a janitor, but could be. I just didn't like the way a specific and honorable profession was singled out in this context. Wanted to make a point, hope you did not mind my impersonating a Janitor. ;) |
