| Kuje3104-26-04, 04:17 PM | I've been putting together a file with all the answers that Ed has been fielding for us over on Candlekeep.com. When I get it finished if any one wants a copy of this .DOC let me know. It has to be emailed though because right now it's over 100 pages. You need Word or Wordpad to read it and I have five pages to go before it's finished as well. It weighs in a hefty 134 pages right now and it's a work in progress so it's bound to grow. :) October Edit: The file is linked in my sig or the same link can be found in my FAQ here on the FR boards. November Edit: Okay since it's over 250 pages, it takes to long to send via email. Also I update it daily to weekly so please use the link below. Thanks! :) http://home.rochester.rr.com/kuje/ June 13th, 2005 Edit: Candlekeep.com is now the host for Ed's 04 replies. I've changed the link on my web page as well. The .doc is still available for those who want it, but I'll have to send it via email. The 05 replies are still going to be hosted by me until I get them edited, coded, and sent to Candlekeep. So my 05 link will not change for awhile. |

And alrdy being worked out, but wanted Ed's permission before throwing it up on a web page. :) Now that he gave his okay either I will host it so I can update it daily or every other day or some one else will host it. :) |
| Kuje3104-28-04, 02:46 PM | :) It's not fancy and I'll fix it up some when I get a chance to sit down and install my old web making software but Yahoo's cheesy web building software is good enough for now. So for any one who wants this here it is: http://www.geocities.com/kuje31/ It will be updated probably once a week or so until I run out of space on Yahoo and then I'll have to figure out what to do with it. :) |
| Israfel66604-28-04, 02:55 PM | to Kuje31 Have you considered asking Alaundo to just host them at Candlekeep? Even if this way you can only update them once a month or so (because you have to submit it to the scribes for the actual upload), it would be better than having to create an ad-hoc, almost unknown website. |
| Kuje3104-28-04, 03:00 PM | Originally posted by Israfel666  to Kuje31 Have you considered asking Alaundo to just host them at Candlekeep? Even if this way you can only update them once a month or so (because you have to submit it to the scribes for the actual upload), it would be better than having to create an ad-hoc, almost unknown website. I have an email to Alaundo, but to be honest, after the reception I got yesterday when I made a public request on thier forums to get Ed's permission to even post this on the net, I'm not really positive I want any thing to do with Candlekeep....... I only offered to put this on the net because the WizO's asked if it was possible, since they were interested in adding it to thier FAQ's. Other wise I was just going to keep emailing it to people but I wanted to find a way for the WizO's to link it. Especially since it would be updated weekly. :) |
| Cunning Linguist04-28-04, 03:14 PM | How about using a ED2K link? You could download the thing with p2p programs like Overnet, eMule, edonkey2K, Sharazaa. No hosting, only sharing. |
| Kuje3104-28-04, 03:19 PM | Originally posted by Cunning Linguist How about using a ED2K link? You could download the thing with p2p programs like Overnet, eMule, edonkey2K, Sharazaa. No hosting, only sharing. You lost me. :) |
| Cunning Linguist04-28-04, 03:27 PM | ED2K links are dataHash'es of a file on the eDonkeyNetwork. Posting a ED2K link, lets a user of one of these P2P programs identify that induvidual file, and download it from another user. This way, bandwith is shared by the people who have the file, and hosting it becomes obsolite, since everyone shares it togheter. |

Again the only reason I even posted it on the net is because the WizO's asked if they could link it through thier FR FAQ's...... |
| Cunning Linguist04-28-04, 04:10 PM | But it depends what the WizO's want to do. Do they want a pure download of the doc file? Or do they want a HTML version? I also don't know what you wanted candlekeep to do, a weblog kind of thing perhaps? Weblog would not work with the ed2k solution, but a pure download would work for some people. It also might be a silly idea if Im the only one using these systems. |

It'll be a pain to turn that 144 page and growing file, into HTML. :) I don't/didn't want much from Candlekeep but if they wanted to host my doc I would have let them..... Never heard of that system you mentioned, hence the "You lost me" comment. :) |
| Israfel66604-28-04, 04:29 PM | Linguist, the problem with putting the thing in P2P is that Kuje wouldn't have any mean to update it afterwards. |
| Cunning Linguist04-28-04, 04:43 PM | He could put out a new link with updates, and a new link for the complete file. |
| Kuje3104-28-04, 05:14 PM | Well me and Alaundo talked and it's probably just going to be put on Candlekeep after all, because 1) he has more room. :) and 2) there's a lot of lore stored on that site alrdy. But for now i'll leave my geocities site up because I was typing my hands raw sending out emails. :) |

| Kuje3105-04-04, 04:49 PM | I've updated my file with Ed's answers about the Shadow Weave and also some info about Evermeet and the Demihumans. Also some info on Sylune and Shadowdale. You can find the link to that file either in this thread or my thread on the FR FAQ's. |
| Kuje3105-09-04, 06:30 PM | I've updated Ed's answers again. :) Some new information about Cylyria Dragonbreast’s younger sister. There is also some FR language slang. BTW all of Ed's new answers will be near the last few pages in my file. Again my file can be found in my FAQ in the FAQ section or on this thread. Have a good one, Kuje |
| Kuje3105-15-04, 07:50 PM | New updates from Ed. Some info on Dragonspear Castle, and a tidbit on Serpent Kingdoms. Just a reminder, the link for the file can be found in my FAQ, or in this thread. |
| Kuje3105-16-04, 01:13 PM | Some new info on the history between Vangy and El, as well as info on a minor noble house in Comyr. Ed's new replies are always at the end, but above the text from the mailing list. :) http://www.geocities.com/kuje31/ |
| Kuje3105-17-04, 11:52 PM | Whole slew of misc info from Ed today. :) Is any one actually keeping up to date on this file or am I just talking to myself here? :) |
| Dragonfey05-18-04, 06:34 AM | Someone is following, at the very least me.......;) |
| WizO_BigSister05-18-04, 08:24 AM | The trouble with using eDonkey to share this file is that a lot of people use this program to break copyright, and this includes some WotC products. It would be better if we could avoid using eDonkey as it might muddy the waters ... so to speak. I dont think it needs to be html. A link to where you can download it is all you need. :) |

| ksu_bond09-05-04, 12:31 AM | Hey Kuje I've got a quick question for ya, I regularly download the newest updates to your massive file and I was wondering when you add Ed's newest replies to the document is there any rhyme or reason to how you update them? The reason I ask is that I'd like to reformat your document to suit my needs, yet still would like to update it without either redoing the formating each time I update or searching through the entire document to locate the add material. |
| Kuje3109-05-04, 12:51 AM | Hey Kuje I've got a quick question for ya, I regularly download the newest updates to your massive file and I was wondering when you add Ed's newest replies to the document is there any rhyme or reason to how you update them? The reason I ask is that I'd like to reformat your document to suit my needs, yet still would like to update it without either redoing the formating each time I update or searching through the entire document to locate the add material. Ed's newest text is always near the bottom, but always above the Manshoon info. Lately I have been dating them which I started doing in or about mid June or July. :) So if you are reading the file, he oldest replies start at the top and then go down towards the bottom. I had all of his replies dated at one point, but then my HD died on me and I lost that version. I should sit down and redo that but it took hr's the last time and I just haven't had the drive to redo that all over again. Grin. |
| dragonheart09-05-04, 05:59 PM | kuje for some reason I'm not seeing your sig anymore so its hard finding the latest update could you repost the link please? |
| Kuje3109-05-04, 06:10 PM | kuje for some reason I'm not seeing your sig anymore so its hard finding the latest update could you repost the link please? It's also in my FAQ found here on the FR boards. But you probably have something turned off in your USER CP, so head up to My Account, that's to the top left of any of the pages. Then click Edit Options, which is to the left as well. Then make sure that Show Sigs in the Visible Post Elements section is checked. Also make sure you have Sig Show Once set to no if you want to see sigs in every page. :) But I'll post my link again as well. :) http://www.geocities.com/kuje31/ |

For one reason or another, your sig does not seem to be appearing in this thread, at least for me (I've seen it in other threads and I do not have sigs disabled) so I might assume that your sig does not apear for others. Edit the First post of the thread to contain the link. |

Edit the First post of the thread to contain the link. That's because you have the sig option turned off in your profile. That option only shows people sigs in the first reply in the thread they post in and then all later replies in the same thread don't show the sigs. But will edit the 1st reply again. |

| Kuje3111-07-05, 12:06 PM | Ed has gone silent for days now because he's busier then usual, so there's no updates this week. |
| Kuje3111-11-05, 11:23 AM | It seems Ed might be silent for awhile longer but once he get's back to answering, I'll start posting. :) I'm not lovely and I'm not hooded, but I can pass along the following to the restless scribes amidst the stacks ... === Hello to all scribes. Ed Greenwood here, with an apology for my silence and a request for your understanding. At the end of October, my wife and I took a rare jaunt across the province to visit with one of my sisters in her new abode. We rarely get away from home these days, and so took the opportunity to cram shopping stops at specific stores, attending a few plays at Stratford before the season winds down, and attending a retirement dinner for a longtime library co-worker into our trip. Ah, the joys of multitasking. When we returned home I charged right back into my day job and the joys of trying to write a 110,000 word novel in two weeks. (Try it sometime. It's certainly . . . exciting.) At the same time, the Wizards floodgates opened up again: flurries of calls and e-mails from designers, editors, and novelists to check this, review that, and provide timely Realmslore. I love doing this (hey, I've done it for you folks almost daily for two years, right?), but Wizards MUST come first, or I'm impeding the flow of published products that keep the Realms rolling along for everyone to enjoy. At the same time, health problems arose in my family and in me, a new round of radio interviews to publicize City of Splendors started up, the end-of-season yardwork involved in acres of gardening landed on my lap - - and the lovely Lady Hooded stopped calling and e-mailing. She is my gentle, loving cattle prod. She prods and I groan, turn back to the stack of Realmslore queries, answer one of them, and turn back to getting on with the novel. The first Knights novel is hard going. I CAN'T just tell their saga, because Wizards (silly people) won't agree to letting me publish about two hundred full-length novels, with footnotes and chronologies and maps. Instead I have to weave a slimmed-down story that matches all the Realmslore references already published and doesn't disappoint too many of you by leaving important events offstage. So I'm drowning in nostalgia, and running out of time, and writing writing writing, and loving it. Wherefore a weekend passed before I even noticed my lovely tormentor (if she teases you guys, think what she does to ME) had fallen silent. Another few days passed (remember, I have to drive 40 miles to a library and work for half of most days, and then drive back home, doing chores on the trip and squeezing writing into early mornings, late evenings, and so on) before I did anything about it. THO has two jobs, one of which we can talk about a little bit (the editing one) and another that we can't. She went on assignment on the stay-silent job, and got injured, and is still incommunicado, though I've been assured she's going to be all right. In the meantime, I've got five big projects to get done before the new year rolls around, the first draft of the first Knights novel being top priority (and due in less than a week, now!). I just CAN'T stop and have fun doing Realmslore replies right now, though I promise to return as soon as I can. The moment the lovely Lady Hooded is back in business, I'm sure she'll pester me in her usual irresistable way, and I'll spit out an answer or two for her to post here. I intend to celebrate finishing the novel by taking a day to really plow deep into your questions, but then again I might get run over by a raging wheelbarrow tomorrow. So please bear with us both. Technical troubles are merely temporary. Ed === --Eric |

| Kuje3112-12-05, 06:30 PM | THO is doing well and Ed should return next week. Posted by a poster who lives in Canada and knows Ed, "Well, Ed told me at his reading (GREAT story, BTW, all about the commercialization of Christmas, literally had seniors laughing so hard they were in tears) that he's about a week away from having time to pen Candlekeep replies. This means that he'll have the novel handed in and just be killing himself churning out Realmslore web columns, DRAGON articles, and two "big projects" he can't discuss yet. So hang in there, scribes! He's almost back with us!
