| Maskanodel07-07-03, 11:41 AM | I've been reading the Return of the Archwizards and it talks about the elves mystical connection to the Weave. But since Galaeron Nihmedu (the main character) started using the Shadow Weave, he's lost his connection to the weave. For example he can't enter the reveries, sleeps like a normal being, and can't "sense" other elves. Is there a published rule that deals with elves using the shadow weave? |

TMK, there's no "official" game ruling which deals with the any odd relationship between Elves & the Shadow Weave: they have the same benefits / suffer the same restrictions as any other Shadow Weave user of any other race. Methinks the RotA stuff is more plot device than anything else. |

And I was getting a nagging feeling about Galeron sleeping. Certainly it would explain why he felt such trauma becoming a Shadow Adept, why he suddenly started identifying more with humans and why other elves felt noticeably uncomfortable around him. I would probably work it into the game regardless of whether WotC is thorough enough to do so. |

They do not require Mystra's help to access magical energies (what I call "Raw Magic"). See diagram below: http://www3.telus.net/rebirth/weave.JPG So, in the case of Galaeron, the fact that he switched to the Shadow Weave essentially disconnected him from his fellow elves. Also, IMC, no one can draw from "both" weaves: it's not a matter of Mystra being angry so much as a matter of where you draw your magic from (that's IMC, of course). |

PDK, I have always looked upon your diagrams with reverence and awe  :D, and thus I was wondering... would you like to join Dicefreaks? |

I've followed your Dicefreaks URL and I'm not sure if any of my posts are worthy of such a website... it seems oriented towards book reviews and such. |
